Wait a minute, what's wrong with smoking in a underground parking lot?

How does this harm you? Yeah, it may be against the rules, but seriously, why is it an issue to you?

You do realize that the fumes that come from your car are a lot more harmful?

I support the old Korean dude on this one.

It's an issue to me because...

1. I bought an apartment in this building because it had clear no-smoking areas.
2. I can't stand smoke - my mother died from lung cancer this year and I want nothing to do with it.
3. If he wants to smoke in the smoking areas, that's his call. I avoid those areas because people smoke there. He can smoke there, I can walk with my family where it is restricted.

So, you actually "support the old Korean dude on this one"? What part about his actions did you support? The part where he was smoking in the wrong area? The part where he called my wife an effin bitch? The part where he tried to push me to get to her?

Please, do tell, what exactly do you like about what he did?

Props to you Captain, and to your wife as well. Drunk ajosshis always want to fight if challenged, good thing most of them could not fight their way out of a paper bag.

I know you didn't want to focus on the "physicality" but what submission hold did you use? Rear naked choke?

First off, I think you handled the situation that developed well.....

.......but, smoking in the underground parking lot........I would've let that one go.

You know the deal in Korea. Stairwells and underground parking lots are unofficial smoking areas.

Typical ajushi. All huff and puff. I remember watching a "fight" between a gyopo with his white girlfriend and an ajushi. The ajushi was screaming at the top of his lungs trying to "get" to the couple and a couple cops tried to block him. But it all looked so half-ass I didn't know how he thought he looked intimidating. The gyopo just walked away and the ajushi was still screaming 50 yards away.

Even though I smoke, and pretty much everyone I know smokes in my family.

I'm happy to see someone stand up to that guy.

Even though it's a "small" thing.

1) He's breaking the rules, if he can smoke this time, what's to stop him from doing it the next time? And let him smoke, other guys will start doing it. The sign is there for a reason.

2) Smoking can harm others. I think we all know this. And it's not a choice. It pollutes the air around people. It's not like I can really escape it, and if I do I'm severely inconvienced by having to stop most natural thing to someone... breathing. Women are even more damaged by smoking. Unlesss we want the next generation of humans to be web footed dwarves.

For a guy who takes the moral high ground...You smoke? I thought we were paragons of moral virtue who should be role models to all of our students. Rolling Eyes

Just a small update:

I found out the guy runs a business in the building (the lower part of the building is an officetel). Chances are, we'll never see each other again as there are different elevators for the apartments.

I went to the hospital (yes, sounding very local with that comment, I know) and got a 진단서 - basically a report of injuries, just in case he woke up this morning and was wanting to push this further. The doctor examined me and made not of any contusions and abrasions, and also x-rayed my chest. All of this was preventative, I have no interest in continuing this at all, but I'd hate to get blindsided by a doctor Bill or criminal charge a week down the road.

------------------------------------------------

I think some people are wondering why I bothered to say anything about the guy smoking. Just to be clear, he was smoking at the entrance to the elevators in our underground parking area, and area that is off limits for smoking. Our building is mostly residential units, and smoking in the halls and stairwells is a big no-no (and rarely ever done). The only time people smoke in those areas is if they are passing through and really didn't know any better.

Please note, I didn't tell the guy to go outside. I didn't tell him to put out his smoke. I simply said 'excuse me, but this is a no-smoking building'.

It's a bird; it's a plane...no IT'S CAPTAIN AMERICA...out to rescue the damsels in distress.

Captain America is out on the prowl searching for those breaking even the most trivial of laws.

Got someone walking on the grass where there's a no walking sign?

See someone put plastic where paper is supposed to go?

Is someone crossing the street even though the don't walk man is blinking?

No need to fear. Just call CAPTAIN AMERICA...and he will swoop in and take care of the dastardly deed with the swiftness of a leopard and the
objectiveness of Rush Limbaugh.

AAaaaahahahahaha

seriously mate, seriously

if you're serious about this, two things.

1. Try to spell my name right.
2. Try not to belittle an event that had a man lunging and swearing at my wife.
