I don't necessarily agree with what the women on the show say, but it's obvious they're trying to cater to the audience. There are, what, 15 women on the show trying to talk, and some barely ever say anything. Some of the heavier ones (like one Finnish heifer) on the show make me wonder how they ever got on TV.

That said, to say that they're telling lies is a stretch, as Asia and Korea do attract vermin from the West. I'm not sure if they said ALL white guys, either, but there does exist the kind of guys they talk about.

And this thread shows the double standard and racism on the board. When an expat is reviled, fairly or unfairly, everybody rushes to his or her defense, but if a Korean does something good, the posters find anything they can to disparage him or her.

There's a reason why the show is called "chatting with the beauties" and not "chatting with the smarties."

Yeah..most of them aren't remotely attractive. That italian girl is ridiculously annoying. Her voice makes me want to shove my head through my concrete walls. I was subjected to about 20 minutes of it the other night and it was more than any man should have to endure.

These comments have to come out of pure jealously. I've seen the occasional hardcore loser with a good looking girl, but usually the differences are not that extreme. I've seen a lot of average foreign guys with average korean girls too.

However the average foreign girl just can't compete at all with Korean girls. I've probably only seen a couple in my daily comings and goings that puts any real effort into her look, and I've seen far too many that look like homeless people or refugees on their way somewhere.

They probably thought coming over here they'd have great odds at getting a guy from back home. They didn't realize they'd have to compete with women who actually put effort into their look on top of the fact that I'm sure a lot of guys are sick of the crappy attitudes of a lot of north american girls.

You've cracked the secret code and pointed out the elephant in the room.

I agree with TundraC.
It is just the vicious cycle of beauty and differences in standards. When we go outside our own culture we get to bend the rules. Its fun, but lets face it Asian cultures give benefit to the male. Not always the case but generally so.
That being said there are plenty of D-Bags with beautiful women on their arms in any country. Money, Power, Status, Looks. Universally appealing to the va-j-j.

Sounds good.

Might just become a pickup line in the near future.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I've only been to the embassy once on business, and the girl working the counter was most certainly NOT a gyopo. On accent alone, she was obviously a Korean native.

The fact is, these top 5 reasons have one underlying commonality.

They come from being a loser.

How is number 1 being a loser. The reason we work is for money, simple. Am I awestruck by my 2.x mill salary? Of course not. Can I make more back home? Definitly. But I'm not going to work for free.

How is no.2 being a loser? My friend's dad is an expat and works as a Pilot for Asiana. He gets a free apartment too (much nicer than mine) is he a loser too?

No's 3 and 4, I agree are "loser" traits...but I've never met anyone who fell under 3, and very few under 4. (perhaps it's the older crowd which falls in that category).

And no. 5. Actually most guys want to bang girls, full stop. Does that make you a loser? Of course not. The fact that 98+% of the girls in Korea are Korean means we'll be focusing on Korean girls.

I liked this Brian

The show isnt called Chat with the Foreign Minds after all, and while most of them have better Korean than I do, we oughtnt pretend the show places higher priority on quote-unquote the issues than on having them wear short skirts and sit on a terraced stage.

The show is pretty stupid to begin with, and many of the girls are annoying or have no business being on it because they ain't pretty at all, just so-so.

The South African chick was really annoying in the beginning because her Korean was horrible. She's also pushy in that she keeps wanting to talk but has little to say.

From the few times I've seen the show, nobody had a bad word to say about Korea, except for maybe Koreans drink too much.

In the strict sense you're right, they don't make you a loser.

But when you have all 5. It kind of does.

I'll be frank, I'm here for money. I've worked jobs back at home, some even "presetigous" (if you can throw the ball that far). But the money was still better here. Take into accounting, housing, food, etc... I came out on top in Korea.

We are definately "smarter "(by accident or choice) for being ESL teachers. Some of us have relatively easy jobs with good pay. But that's another reason we're pegged for losers.

It's not just that the expat community is full of losers.
Part of it is, being a ESL teacher in Korea makes you a loser (somewhat).

Considering all your life options back at home, the reasons you become an ESL teacher in Korea:

1) Money - This would assume that money is better than what you can make at home, ERGO you weren't making all that much
2) Free Apartment - Related to 1. Actually, shouldn't even be on the list, I think I was just padding up the list
3) Runaway - Obviously you must not have too much going for you at home if you pickup your bags and travel to another country. This isn't the case for all people (many awsome people love adventure) but for some, it's just an excuse to leave their home country.
4) No Job... that makes you a loser
5) Self Explanatory. Yellow fever isn't just in the Panama Canal.

Actually, the knockouts sometimes getting with the below-average looking guy is true. I won't argue with it. That was me and my ex-girlfriend of about 2 years. Even besides the perfect ten, most of the other Korean and Japanese ladies I've dated would likely have been at least slightly out of my league stateside.

But so what? The same happens with "exotic" females who go to a Western country. I've seen very average Asian girls get mobbed on in clubs here. "Average" Brazilian guys seem to have a great time here, too. I don't sit here complaining about the Brazilian guys using my women and etc etc. It's sour grapes.

+1

Back home, I'd have a snowball's chance in hell with a girl like my girlfriend. This has been true with pretty much every girl I've dated in Korea and Japan; if there was some kind of objective "scale of attractiveness" almost all of my exes would rank higher than me.

However, as others have pointed out, it cuts both ways. When my girlfriend lived in England guys were falling over each other trying to hook up with her - she had random guys at the bus stop giving her their number. Here, she doesn't even warrant a second look from a Korean guy.

Those Misuda b*&^%s are in the same boat. Back home, most of them are average, average, average - but here, by virtue of the facts that they a) speak Korean b) wear miniskirts and c) are willing to massage the fragile Korean male ego, they are famous. And they hate on us? At least we actually do something - work.

Nobody isn't saying they don't exist. I'm pretty sure everybody is aware of the type of guys these broads are talking about. The problem is that they are generalizing and making it seem like the majority of (male) foreigners are just out to bang Korean chicks and implying that there is actually something wrong with that. It ultimately only confirms the prejudices held by many Korean guys.

Although I think Koreans are employed there(the asshole ajushis working "security"), accent alone doesn't prove a person isn't a gyopo. There are gyopos who've only had limited experience outside their immediate Korean community. I've met plenty of Koreans with American citizenship and broken English.

This show is cock-blocking by proxy.

Anyway, what man does not want to be treated like a king?

So average-looking Western guys score some asian poon.

Average-looking Korean guys do, too.

Did these 'beauties' miss that?

Right under their noses.

Persons from the same culture have such similar backgrounds that the ability to know what the person is usually thinking, feeling, desiring is mostly complete. You can see to their core whereas with someone outside of your culture is more of a shell, except for what you imagine exists inside. This is what is difficult about intercultural relationships--the he's my wonderful Canadian man, or she's my Chinese princess---without really knowing what's deep inside of teh other person.

.

This is so stupid as to be funny. You're basically admitting you can't understand people from a different cultural background. Thank God you can't get a real job in your home country.

Ha-ha! If any guy out there knows what the hell a woman (from any culture) is ever thinking, feeling, or desiring, he could write a how-to book and make a crap-load of money.
