Damn. I am whipping it up with this arcade stick. If you think you have what it takes, come get you some. I am on XBOX LIVE (it works via PC). My handle is CubansReturn

I got all excited thinking that there would be more players on XBOX live because of the PC release, but I guess PC users can't play Xbox users. Apparently PC one uses Windows Live, and doesn't allow cross-play. That sucks. Guess i won't be able to challenge you. |

| Street Fighter IV is pretty hype... I wonder how the arcade scene is doing over in Ulsan and Busan since I will be stationed there this fall. I'm not planning to bring my consoles to Korea so I don't know the gaming scene in Korea in terms of console/arcade wise. Anyone been to Busan/Ulsan arcade places? |

Korea is not known for its arcade scene. That's Japan. Korea is all about playing pc games in pc bangs (rooms). Most Westerners consider Korean gaming to be 90's and lame. Starcraft is still the most talked about game here.
But that is not to say there is not an arcade scene here. So hopefully someone can help you out. But it seems like quite a bit of expats play consoles, so you should be able to find other peeps to help you out with that. I don't know Busan too well since I'm in Seoul. But Busan is a great city, I love visiting there.
You should be able to find used consoles here for a decent price. |

As a Korean, I really don't like Starcraft or RTS games that much. I've been deemed the most anti-Korean person ever. I play Super Smash Bros for crying out loud. Who plays that in Korea?
PC Bangs put me to sleep so hard. I'm not in the mood to grindfest my level 71 for hours to months at a time just to reach level 72.
I went down to Korea about 2-3 years ago for about a week, and I remember going to one of Seoul's arcade places. Next to the million Tekken 5 arcade cabinets and their token KOF machine, they had Street Fighter 2 Rainbow Edition as one of their cabinets. Rainbow edition. For crying out loud, it was rainbow edition.
For those who don't know what rainbow edition is:

I'm glad SF4 is popular in Korea. I thought the SF series was doomed in Korea, but I guess not. |

I wasn't a fan of the Japan arcade scene. Lot's of claw games, lot's of the same machine playing some LAN mech battle, weird gambling games where you bet on video game horses, and to top it off it's pretty expensive. I think it was 200 yen for one game of SF4(I guess that's one way to encourage you to get good at it). I'd heard of places where you pay an hourly fee and get unlimited play, but no dice.
That SF2 Rainbow Edition...why does it not surprise me that it would be in a Korean arcade? |

There is a blazblue cabinet in isu.

The directions are on that site. They also have an sf4 cabinet with decent comp most of the time. It's at the Chongsin University(Isu) stop on blue line. Exit 13. |
