|
|
I bought a Toshiba laptop with me to Korea. I've had it since 2007. I've recently had the first problem with it.
A yellow vertical line has appeared on the left hand side of the screen.
From internet research, I've heard it may be a LCD problem, or something is wrong with the graphics card.
I've heard there are plenty of repair shops in Yongsan.
Any idea how much it would cost to get this fixed and also how long it would take?
Thank you in advance. |

Two year old laptop is fine, I owned one for 4 years before finally shooting it with buckshot. Had to put it out to pastor.

I have one that's six years old and still works fast. It only has XP and Office on it, and it's noisy, but it boots fast and works great It cost 5000 NZ dollars |

| Your graphics card is over heating, buy a can of compressed air and give the air intake a good spray. Or unscrew the back cover and clean the dust out manually. It happens to most laptops because people, well, have them on their laps, which isn't actually how they are designed. You should always keep them on a flat surface so air can be sucked in by the fan on the underside. If I were you i'd try and short the problem pretty quickly because it will deteriorate until the lines are all over the screen and it's unusable. |

I don't think the warranty lasts beyond 2 years. My laptop has never been used on my lap. It has always been on a desk, but thank you for the advice.
I intend to go to Yongsan during summer vacation and get a quote.
This laptop cost around 700 quid, I'm not going to throw it out just yet. |

Okay, that rules out overheating because at cold start-up, it's there. Overheating may have fried your video card. Obviously it's not dead pixels. Right now, all evidence points to the Vid. dude. Sorry. Those are just not worth replacing. However, you could try and buy one of those external vid. cards if it is really that annoying. |
