Anyone interested in Korea before the Miracle on the Han, here is a set of photos taken by my brother while he was stationed here in 1966-1967. 34 of them are now on permanent display at the Suwon Museum of Modern History. Enjoy!

Yeah, pretty neat photos. Took me a couple of years to get Suwon's attention, but once the people in City Hall saw them.... the pictures speak for themselves.

I still have control of the slides and I got ahold of an old slide projector. I use the pictures in my classes to teach the vocabulary on "How to describe your history/country" The students love that unit!

Excellent photography.

However, I'd say some of those photos could have been taken today ( in my small rural K town).

Fascinating pictures! Thanks...

Makes me realize how different Korea is 43 years later.

Someone posted some PDF articles of Korea from 1919 and 1948 from National Geographic some time back. Those were pretty interesting. Korea does not look like a good place to live in 1919!

You can find the thread here: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=127164

However, you need to modify the URL in the link:

http://www.koreanarchery.org/classic/NationalGeographic1919/

Be sure to put /classic/ after koreanarchery.org for the other pics.

Great pictures. It's always fun to look back into the past now and then.
