Don't troll.

Btw, have your boyfriend apply for the TaLK program. He can do up to 2 years of exchange student work. If he applies for a 1 year contract with a TaLK approved korean university that has ties to his home university he can work 9 hours a week for 900,000 won a month and get a free dorm room. After the one year he can apply for another extension and he's good to go.

Why couldn't the hakwon give an anonymous tip to rat him out?

I was thinking they could do this or report him and claim that they only recently learned he was an illegal teacher. Heck, they could get one of their friends to report him for the reward and claim that they did not know that he was illegal. I learned from jkelly80 that his recruiter routinely forges documents. So why can't they feign ignorance about the teacher being illegal? Anybody know what would happen in such situations?

On a thread like this any response should be welcome if the OP ("She" Confused) wants to keep the thread alive.

They need to show the documents where they applied for and got his work visa and show that they were fakes. If they don't have those how do they prove he worked there while pulling the parma over their eyes? Since they never applied for a visa then there is nothing they can do to the illegal teach.

sorry to mention in Korean but her case sounds urgent, so I've sent below message to her directly already.

Don't be scared that the Hagwon'd call police to arrest your boy frined... if they do they'd also be punished by the civil laws. The punishment is that the Hagwon would be no longer able to hire foreign teachers for 3 years. This is a professional suicide. (In addition, Korea govt really is unhappy with Hagwon's illegal activitiy ever.)

I think your boy friend needs to contact ACRC 1588-1577 asap to be protected in advance.

Why do hagwons hire teachers illegally, treat them like s**t, and expect them to stay when they know for a fact they can't do anything about it when they leave? Man, I don't understand lol.

Because most illegal teachers do not have much in the way of brainpower/reasoning skills. The hakwon simply tells them they will be in trouble if they leave and the fools believe them. Most illegal teachers (or legal for that matter) don't do their research before coming over here (as all the questions on Dave's prove.)

Let's face it. If your best career option is working illegally in a foreign country where other illegal teachers have been jailed (one for six months) you're probably not the quickest tractor on the farm. Of course there are exceptions...but the key word here is "exceptions"...much like those people claiming to make 5 million or more a month.
