Hey guys sorry if this is yet another repeat, I searched around and couldn't quite find what I was looking for. Basically I should be leaving for Korea in the next month or so, I've got my CRB check and degree certificate and have filled in the medical self check/visa application form (which are with my employer- should they be?)
Now.. I understand I have to go to the korean embassy in london and get the certificates appostled and stuff, I am not sure if that is all I should be doing whilst I am there- for example do I need to have an interview whilst I'm there? Is there anything non-obvious I need to bring... and can I book an appointment? etc... I mean, am I eventually sending everything to Korea or will this trip to the embassy be the final step before getting flights and stuff?
basically anyone who's recently done all this could probably be a lifesaver right now and give me a little step-by-step on this last stage; my employer gets easily confused when I ask anything and I am unsure whether she really knows what I need to do anyway!
Many thanks |

I've been through twice and the documents I needed was my passport, visa application form, acceptance letter for public school and health check. No Interview needed either time. You should call them just to make sure, but the process seems more straightforward then in other countries.
You can go between 10-12 and 2-4 to hand in your documents and it takes 5 days to get the stamp in your passport. |

For my first E-2 I sent the following documents to Korea [at the same time].
1: Original Degree
2: Degree Verification Form
3: One Copy of Sealed Transcripts
4: CBC with Apostille
5: One copy of Passport
6: Passport Photos x2
7: Original Signed Contract
8: Medical Form
9: Resume
The Apostille is granted by the FCO in Milton Keynes NOT the Korean Embassy.
http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/about-the-fco/what-we-do/docs-and-legal-services/legalisation/
You may choose to send a Notarised Copy of your Degree with Apostille.
It would be wise to keep copies of your CBC with Apostille and Degree in case the Korean Embassy ask for it when applying for your Visa after you obtain the Visa Issuance Number.
I did not need to have an interview with the Korean Embassy.
I think I sent the following documents to the Korean Embassy:
1) Letter which included my Visa Issuance Number and the documents I included
2) Passport
3) Copy of Degree
4) Copy of CBC
5) Set of Transcripts
6) Visa Application Form
7) Postal Order for Visa payment.
It is best to contact the Korean Embassy to confirm which documents they actually require. |

ok thanks a lot, so it seems my boss hasn't got a clue- she would have sent me to london for no reason whatsoever...
It seems possible to get it appostled by post but although would be ok for the CRB, the site says that "educational documents must be signed by a UK solicitor or notary before they can be legalised" - any tips on this? is this something you can do if you go in person?
I had no idea this would would be such a confusing pain!
thanks again |
