Does Disney know that Korean companies are making TV commercials and using the Bippity Boppity Boo song?
I don't really care, just wondering if what they're doing is legal. I had to get online, go to youtube and show my wife this video to prove to her that this song is NOT a Korean creation like she believed. After that, she settled down and admitted to me that yes, Koreans are not that creative.

Everything is a Korean creation.
I was watching glass blowers on TV yesterday and thinking about my cousin who's a glass blower. Then I was thinking about telling Korean people this who would then tell me that they were amazed that they do this in Canada because it's a Korean thing invented in Korea. That's what parents would tell their children here. Because Korea is the greatest country in the world. |

I don't know if Disney knows but sometimes kids will be humming or singing this and when I'm able to sing along they're always suprised and ask, "Teacher, you know Korean song?"
I always tell them its not a Korean song. That its in fact from the Disney movie Cinderella but they just look at me like I'm crazy. It is suprising how many things they believe are "Korean" |

It's funny, your title reminded me of the "Do you know" slogan used to try to persuade the world that Dokdo belongs to Korea. Maybe you should make a "Do you know" shirt about the bippity-boppity-boo song. |

Most of my 4th grade classes knew that song came from the Cinderella movie...(Nat. Curr. lesson 4 role play is "Cinderella"). |

If The Beatles, or their surviving families, are getting even half of the royalties they should be getting from Korean TV then they must be billionaires from S. Korea alone!!
Beatles tunes (usually reworked) can be heard several times per hour on Korean TV. Commercials, documentaries, anything. |

Actually, that money would be going to Michael Jackson's family.
And to tell the truth, I've heard a lot of western songs used here in commercials-- including LCD Soundsystem and New Pornographers-- bands you wouldn't expect to have 'sold out'... though I suppose it's not the same thing if you do it over here, because very few people back home will ever know.
Ultimately though, it doesn't really matter if Koreans think they invented it all or not-- they didn't, and nobody back home cares if they think that they did. The only place anyone really cares about such things is here-- but this place really doesn't matter as much when you're not living here.
Seriously-- how many average Americans/Canadians/Australians, etc actually think about Korea on a daily basis? And to go even further, how much Korean culture do people in the west get on a daily basis?
I admit the nationalism is pretty tough to take, especially when you're not so much feeling the whole 'Korea is awesome' thing and furthermore it comes into conflict with your own sense of greatness, but really... who cares what they think??? |

Why did you ask about the number of torrents open? |

I suppose he's wondering whether the OP is concerned about the legality of pirating files through torrents. |

I would guess most people over here are pirating something. Music, shows, movies, software, etc. Most young people do and without access to the places they'd normally buy it/watch it they probably are even more.
Seems funny to get upset about copyright in the context where the majority are pirates. |

Pirating for commercial uses is usually different from pirating for personal uses.
I'm not pirating anything, so I'm relatively clean on this. |

Torrents? About 40.
Please read the OP again, I wasn't and am not upset and I don't care that Korean TV commercials are bibbity boppity booing their collective modedits, it's just really funny that they've convinced a lot of their people that it was a Korean creation. Please don't let your Korean heritage cloud your judgment. Two wrongs don't make a right, didn't oma ever teach you that?
For all I know, these companies that are using the song are paying royalties, who knows? And who am I to complain? I made a LOT of money from this song from a part I played in a commercial recently which included the song! Hahahaha! |
