Okay so we all know that you can be fined and or deported by doing illegal side jobs if you are an E2 visa holder.
The question is do the police or immigration need any actual proof to fine/deport you? Is a random person accusing you of illegal work enough proof to endanger your career in Korea? Or do they go by more concrete evidence like bank money transfers or confessions?
There is a real lack of information about this topic since people that get caught or deported do not speak up about it. It seems like now there is more incentive than ever to report someone regardless of whether they are doing illegal work or not with the 2~3mil max reward. |

Tone down the hysteria and paranoia.
If there is no proof they can't do anything.
This one teacher posted something similar on Dave's. This Korean guy accused him of drug use. The police didn't jump him and cart him off to jail...they asked him to take a drug test which he refused to do. And to the best of my knowledge that was that.
Korea is still a democracy. No proof equals no problem. |
