Hey guys Smile I'm new to this forum so I apologise in advance if this has already been asked but is it possible for a university student to get a job teaching in korea?

Let me give you more details about the situation I'm in right now.

I'm a 4th year going on 5th year student in Australia taking a double degree of Arts and Law. It is a 5 year program but technically the Arts degree is completed after 3 years. 4th and 5th year concentrate only on law. The problem is, I haven't obtained a certificate for graduation of Ba yet because I thought I'd wait for the end of the 5 years. Do you think I can still apply and be able to get a job in korea?

Also, my partner is korean so he can probably help me to some extent if I do go to korea but he has no experience or knowledge when it comes to teaching english in korea. Is it better not to go through an agency? Some of you would probably tell me to finish my degree first but I have no choice because of family and financial issues, I need to defer my studies and if I wait till i graduate, I probably would not pursue a teaching career to begin with.

Thankyou Smile

Do some research on the TALK program. The pay is a lot less, but it doesn't require a bachelor's degree. By living frugally you should still be able to save a good portion of your income.

VIII.12: The Master said, "It is not easy to find a man who has learned for three years without coming to be good."

btw, with programs like TALK and EPIK, can we apply directly to the schools and programs or do we go through recruitment agencies?

TaLK is like an internship kind of; you apply to a government organization that runs TaLK, and they will place you as they see fit, usually in rural areas. Also, you will be joined by a big group of other foreigners and go through orientation for like a month before being dispatched to your respective schools to teach.

ask your university if you can graduate from the arts program, and defer the rest of the law program without a problem arising.

i graduated from both portions of my double program 6 months apart. (2 different ceremonies)

but make sure that graduating from the arts half of your double won't effect your standing in the law program, i was told that it might when i was checking into it for myself, turns out it didn't.

talk to the head of both faculties about it, and if it's fine get it in writing just to be sure.

then you can come and work just like every other BA holder, and go back home after a year and finish the law component. check how long you are allowed to defer for, might be only 1 year, might be more.

Make this Plan A, you'll double your savings. Use TaLK as Plan B.
