|
|
I know this is a broad topic and ive done a lot of googling.
Apart from the list below I am really interested in what you guys have bought in Korea that you thought was very interesting and unique. Something that you are proud of and will not regret.
Alcohol & Liquors
Antiques
Bamboo
Brush Paintings & Supplies
Cloth & Clothing
Electronics
Furs
Garlic
Ginseng
Handbags and Suitcases
Handicrafts and Traditional Goods
Jade
Jewelry
Leather and Eel Skin Products
Stamp (Dojong)
Shoes
Sporting Goods
tea set
Watches
Personally my favorite buys are:
- A Rubber chicken that screams painfully when u squeeze it - personally found it hilarious.
(bought in myundong)
- Pair of earphones (shop 2nd level Yongsan allows you to try many different types before you buy so you can pick your favorite ).
- Thinking of buying one of those electronic finger scan door locks to take home.
- Handmade wallet from the art festival in Seoul.
- Five buck fake watch. (yes i know it will break before this year is over).
Thats about all i can think of at the moment. |

I believe if you look around in Yongsan you may find one but ive just seen one on my neighbours door and ive seen her use it.
I saw a nice looking one at Homeplus the other day but it was pin coded. I havent gone shopping for the finger scanning one yet but it will prove useful as i tend to fumble around for keys at night (i find looking for the right key very annoying). I dont want a pin coded lock because i get paranoid if someone is watching me punching in my pin code to open the door. Yes even my friend over my shoulder. |

No sorry but i can make a rough estimate.
You may be looking at around 200-300US
I know the pin coded electronic locks cost about 110 US at homeplus |

I really wish I had bought an electric toilet seat. Those things are like $4-500 here at bed bath beyond and are pretty rare otherwise. That was great having access to them everywhere, especially those nights after drinking too much and I was constipated I think toto is the best brand, but there are korean knock offs available for 200-300 and the only problem is installing an outlet/converter back home (if you're in the US. if not in the US it doesn't matter)
also those electronic locks with the number codes and finger codes are not popular outside of asia, except in offices or garage/backdoors of rich peoples houses. but nobody has them in their apartment front doors like in korea. that is very useful if you lose your keys when you're drunk. I'm not sure what I would do with one, as I rent in the U.S. but if I owned, I might install it. it would also be cool to have a video/intercom in your apartment back home like everyone has. |
