It's refreshing to hear that those that getting swindled from a Korean Boss in not from a Hagwon. Naked News, which was released last month, decided to close shop without any notice, without paying their naked journalists and changing the contract as well as reducing the salary of TV Presenters by a fifth.
Here is the news (click here to the source):

Curtain Falls on 'Naked News'
Naked News, an online pay-TV channel featuring topless anchorwomen, has collapsed a month after its sensational debut in Korea.
Both its headquarters in Yeoksam-dong, southern Seoul, and its Web site, www.nakednews.co.kr, have been shut down.
"From July 31, we suspend all services," a posting read on its homepage. "We are going to pay back subscription fees to all of our customers."
It asked its subscribers to apply for the refunds and promised to pay them back within a month.
Executives of Naked News Korea, the operator of the news program, are reportedly on the run. Its president, John Chau, has reportedly fled to another country.
Anchorwomen of the program claimed that the company has not paid salaries to them and other staff.
Four of the nine anchorwomen filed complaints against top executives of the company with the police and the Ministry of Labor.
"We will fight to the end against Naked News, which cheated us and the people," they said in a joint statement. "John Chau started this business in Korea with the intent to swindle money out of the people.
Most of the profits have been wired to his personal account," one anchorwoman said at a press briefing.
Calling their bosses "swindlers," the anchorwomen claimed the firm had cut their salaries by one fifth.
"We got paid nothing this month," said another anchor, in tears. "They arbitrarily changed contract terms to make it difficult for us to quit the job."
They claimed the company is not a franchise of the Canadian company that has been providing similar services since 1999.
Naked News Korea drew keen attention here since its debut, promoting that its "hot" female anchors would deliver up-to-date news encompassing politics, economy, and social and cultural affairs.
More than one million Internet users visited the Web site in the first week, according to its press release. Of them, it said that about 30,000 subscribed.

Now the part where the company claims that they will refund their customers seem to be a bit dodgy. If you were a subscriber and you found out that the service was cancelled, the bosses fled Korea, pocketed the money and released a statement saying "We are going to pay back subscription fees to all of our customers" I would not trust them.
Another complete flaw in Korean society where the authorities don't practically vet businesses, company directors and swindle 30,000 people. What's your opinion. |

This doesn't happen in the U.S. and the rest of the world?

What does the USA have to do with this?
The Naked News, as stated, is from Canada.
And Whistleblower is from England.
I'm sick of jerks like you listing the USA as the cause of all of your problems. |

The comments on the Korea times page seemed to indicate John Chau was a "dirty, swindling Chinese scumbag." |

Once again bass, you've completely missed the point. The way whistleblower phrased his post, it has a racial component to it. It's like saying that it's "refreshing" to see that a Jew (Madoff) ripped off other Jews with the implication that Jews regularly rip off non-Jews. Thoreau was merely pointing out that it happens in every country and is thus unfair to single out Korea/Koreans. |

Don't try to act innocent - you singled out Korea for a reason. The recent recession clearly showed most Western countries were guilty of not performing due dilligence on companies. |

Korean firm with Korean businessmen and guess what, Korean corruption.
Sorry if the article is detrimental to Korean perception but I only reported on the above. So apologies on behalf of the journalist for not including other foreign based organisations and limiting his investigative journalism to Korea. |

Nice deduction there Sherlock. What did you expect?
Korean firm + Korean businessmen = Japanese corruption?
BTW, I hope you aren't implying that all Korean firms run by Korean business men result in Korean corruption. That would be a very ignorant statement.... if you implied that. |

You know what he meant, stop trying to be technical. Going to ground on that point is not a sign of maturity or reason. And yes you WERE trying to imply something negative about Korean society and culture. Trying to pretend you were not and playing innocent diminshes your credibility.
Just be honest and say "yes, I was trying to rip on Korea and say that certain kinds of corruption was especially unique to them." Then be man enough to admit that saying "corporate corruption and poor vetting is unique to Korea" was a poor point to make. The world won't end because you admit losing an argument or making a poor generalization.

If this was a common world wide phenomenon then why didn't you say "human society" instead of "Korean society"?. Using the phrases "complete flaw" and "Korean Society" signifies it as a unique problem.
If you do not feel that it is unique then Korea, then how about a post edit?
You do realize that some of us are English teachers and know a thing or two about the English language and writing and all that right? |
