I would choose Rush over Stinkelback, but I would choose death over 24 hours of forced listening of either, although I'd kill myself after 3 Nickelback songs and I'd love the first 3 hours of Rush.
Rush cannot be compared to Nickelback. Nickelback is just another American carbon copy that shames all Canada. I like American tunes but really, Canadians....do your own damn thing, making rehashed Yanky music just isn't cool.
Rush could never really be accused of copying Americans...being wanky sure, be talented...yes, being cool in the year 2009....I'm not so sure about that. There is a place in my heart for these guys and I can always sit down and listen to a little Rush....a little, but they turn me off with wack lyrics, Geddy's sometimes annoying voice, Neil's sometimes wanky drums and just some of their wanky electronic instruments...but they are talented, wickedly talented. |

the shame of canada???? DUDE do you know how many weeks nickleback has been at number 1 in the usa? do you know how many albums they have sold?? RUSH has nothing on them...
but also, comparing those two bands is like comparing Apples to oranges!
I like RUSH.. they were cool... for that whole drug rock style of the late 70's and 80's..
Tom Sawyor was commerical, but most of there other stuff was way harder than nickleback.. |

I think it is the other way around. Nickelback have nothing on Rush. Only the Beetles, Rolling Stones and, possibly Kiss, have more consecutive gold albums than Rush. Nickelback is nowhere near that. Also rush have been around since 1974 and are still making albums. Their last one really rocked. It was good. Not just good for an old band, but really good. One of their best I think. Let's see Nickelback get even close to that. I've heard that Rush is getting more popular these days, thanks to guitar hero, and rock band. |

And, I'm even more amazed that there are people out there that actually like Nickelback?!?!?
I have swore for years that Nickelback's popularity was just a conspiracy of the music industry to make people believe it was O.K. to listen to sh*tty bands. Maybe it worked 
Seriously though, do people really listen to Nickelback?!
edit: and Itaewonguy, I'm going to assume you're new to the American music landscape, but the pop charts are actually a measure of how bad music is. It works in reverse, the better a band is, the less likely they are to reach the top of the charts. The more likely they are to induce vomiting the closer they are getting to the top. NO, its actually based on record sales and popularity..
problem is to many haters go on about how crap commercial rock n roll bands are, or how bad the top 40 are, and when asked to name a band who is cool, they always name some obscure alternative band which no one has ever heard of just to try and come off as cool...
Sure there are some singers out there who can't sing! and shouldnt even get air play.. ashley simpson being one of them..
BUT nickleback are a true rock band..
listen to their live concerts, they throw down rock n roll! listen to their unplugged MTV.. they can play!!
they do have more songs than the top 40 hits we know them for..give their hard songs a listen..
nickelback have nothing on BONJOVI though  now those guys through it down!! |
