Are there any?

I'm in EPIK and leaving soon. My school originally agreed to pay out my severance on the day before I leave but now "it's the law" that they pay me after I depart, after the contract officially ends (I am leaving 1 day early with vacation for a wedding.. or I would've stayed to see it through). Other people are also being told they are being paid after the fact so I'm just sucking it up.

BUT... I'm totally paranoid that it'll show up with money missing. Can they take any deductions out of my severance pay or must it be the equivalent of an entire month's pay?

My school has told me they won't take anything out of it but my school also told me they'd pay me before I leave (changed their minds), they'd give me extra vacation days (signed in a 2nd school contract and then changed their minds) and so now I'm feeling like if there's anything they COULD take out of it, they probably would.

So is there anything they could take out?

They can/should take income tax off your severance, but shouldn't take the pension off.

Are they just going to wire this to you along with your housing deposit? When do they intend on giving you the money? Are they going to charge you the wiring fee, i.e. deduct it from the payment? Those would be my questions.

Hmm, well I'm American so I haven't been taxed all year... so I shouldn't be taxed now, right?

Also, they said I don't have to worry about wiring fees. I didn't have a housing deposit but they also decided to delay my airfare reimbursement (despite telling me "go ahead and buy your ticket.. we'll reimburse you tomorrow." ...That was two weeks ago) so I assume that's at the same time.

They couldn't, like, add up all my time outside of the office going to the hospital or the bank and deduct that from the severance... could they? I'm worried about that because I thought I read something about that on Dave's... most of my friends in EPIK don't have to keep track of these out-of-school trips but my school is super-strict about it.... basically I'm asking because over vacation, I'm SUPPOSED to go in but nobody will be there to be accountable to me. I don't mind going in but if they are going to do something stupid like deduct wages for trips to the hospital, then I'm definitely not going to obey the "honor system" of showing up when nobody else does.
