Bloody jargon, what does TEF/SL mean, I've been asked for my years of experience TEF/SL. Does it mean Teaching English to Foreigners/Second language or what.

There are so many acronyms in this bloody industry.

They also asked me for the number of years teaching experience, so it didn't necessarily seem logical to then ask me that, which is why I thought it may be something else.

True, but that bloody roll eyes is sarcastic and I'm in a bad mood and it's typical of a Dave's reply.

Actually it was quite logical that they asked you the second question. Teaching English to English speaking students does not mean that a person has been using teaching methods for teaching English language as they would have been if they were teaching TESOL or TEFL to foreign students. The methods are very different. If a person teaches English in North America then they are TESL, if they are teaching English in a non-English speaking country then they are teaching TEFL, because it will not be the students second language, but maybe even their third, fourth or fifth language they are learning. By the interviewers second question, the interviewers are trying to discern how much experience you have, not just teaching, but more importantly to them, in a second language setting so they can determine whether you have been successful in using certain teaching methods.
