I heard that the 100 applicants that were moved from EPIK to SMOE are going to the EPIK orientation instead of the SMOE orientation. Is this true? I still have yet to receive my NOA, so I still don't know where my orientation will be placed (I applied to EPIK, but got switched to SMOE).

I sent my documents about a week and a half ago, and have been told that it may be another week before the paperwork is completed.

Iactually heard that we would be attending the SMOE orientation, rather than the EPIK one, and am a little bit confused as to what the process is!

I'm one of the EPIK-to-SMOE people and was told that I'll be attending the EPIK orientation as well. Good to see I'm not the only one, because I'm confirming my air ticket today.

When did they tell you to arrive?

20th also-- it says in my packet that EPIK will be providing a shuttle from the airport to the orientation only on the 20th, no set times, just a date, and that orientation is from the 20th to the 29th.

^ what jangng said.

However, the flights around that date are just insane. Looks like I'll be arriving on the 19th around midnight (a day early). Guess I'll get either a hotel and then making my own way back to Incheon airport in the morning of the 20th (or getting an overnight at the airport and staying there for a day, whichever works best). And I'll still need to connect flights in Shanghai.

In any case, I'll be a day early. Stupid flight bookings.

Hey guys, I'm part of the EPIK to SMOE people, and I was wondering when everyone was getting in?

I'm leaving Chicago on the 14th, and getting in to INC at the crack of dawn on the 16th.

Coming a little early to visit some relatives and what nots. Very Happy

Sweet cakes. We're supposed to arrive on the 20th, but I'll be getting in late night on the 18th (or early morning on the 19th, depending on how long it takes to clear customs). Vancouver to Seoul via Shanghai.

I'll likely be chillaxing at Incheon airport for a full day, since I'm one of those people who can keep himself entertained as long as there's an internet connection and a power outlet (which is why the first things I invested in was a power outlet converter, haha)... Maybe see if there's a way to store my luggage somewhere (I doubt they have a luggage-storing service where you rent a locker or something, so I might fork out some cash for the transit hotel) and take a small subway joyride if I really get antsy.

Leaving August 19th at 12:50 a.m. and getting to Incheon Airport at 5:20 a.m. on August 20th, so I'll be happily twiddling my thumbs with my iPod waiting till I can register.

i thought the arrival for EPIK people is 8/19/08(wednesday)? That was said on the pdf file for shuttles at the EPIK site. Hope it's not a mix up because most of you are arriving on the 20th?

I'm with EPIK. I'm doing the Jeonju campus orientation and have been instructed to arrive on 19th August etc etc.

I believe this thread concerns people moved from the EPIK program to SMOE. Either that, or other seperate EPIK orientations (I think there's one in Seoul for example.)

I could be wrong. Either way, I'm arriving on the 19th, as instructed by my recruiter.

My EPIK Seoul orientation packet says to arrive the 20th. It could be that there are 2 separate orientations happening?

All EPIK to SMOE people are supposed to arrive on the 20th between 8 and 8. The EPIK to SMOE people are going to the NIIED (National Institute for International Education) in Jongno-gu, Seoul, Korea.

I'm pretty sure that EPIK people are going somewhere else, and I'm not sure about the SMOE people. But as an EPIK to SMOE, this is the info I received.
