My school keeps pumping kids into our classes so he can open new classes and pump more kids into those. He doesnt seem to care how many kids are in the class and doesnt seem to get that the more kids in a class the less i try to control them. Im up to an average of 20 kids in a class elementry and middle school classes. Does anyone else have these huge class sizes or is my boss just a huge ass and only cares about $ |

If you are working a an English language hagwon, the maximum class size is 12. An Ipshi, size is not regulated. Though most owners will flaunt this rule as the need suits. |

20 kids in an elementary school class is insane. 20 kids in a middle school class is inhumane.
I teach elementary school classes of 3-5 students. It's the perfect number. But my situation is a bit different since my wife owns the business. |

yes i work in a hogwan and i know the max is 12 by law but my director breaks every other law, so nothing will stop him from breaking this one. We really wanted to pay into the pension plan and he said no, which is also illegal since he has 30 teachers working for him. If we brought up class size we'd be fired that day, especailly if an investigation was pending...all he would do is pay them off and id be out the door without my bonus and airfare. |

i wouldnt know who to report him to anyways unless it's the labor board, who enforces the 12 max rule. I heard of this rule before but i dont think hogwans follow them, my boss doesnt pay tax either and i know he hasnt reported to the government that he has foreign teachers. |

Mine are between 2-12. I would run screaming out the door if some of my classes jumped 20. |

Mine are 5 to 12, although 13 have slipped in on occasion. If you're at least 175 cm you can take on 12 Korean 5th graders no problem, though. Just get those fists swinging and they'll go down like traffic pylons during a blind man's driving test. |

Wow. I didn't know the maximum class size under the law was 12 for hagwons. And I thought I was lucky to have classes no bigger than 9 per class. My best classes in terms of energy, and willingness to compete to learn the best, are those between 7 - 9. |
