I moved back to Korea a few days ago ... my apartment is provided by my hagwon. I was dropped off there yesterday. I am really pleased with the apartment itself, except for the fact that it was so painfully obvious that nobody had cleaned it since the last teacher moved out (on the same day that they moved me in, I believe). It was quite filthy. I can't even unpack my things until it is cleaned, and I don't think it's reasonable for me to go in there after 2 days in transit and have to clean someone else's filth. I don't consider myself to be a princess or anything, but is this common practice? My last hagwon provided me with a clean apartment that didn't make my skin crawl when I walked inside.

In Korea it's often the responsibility of the person moving in to clean. Your hagwon should have been considerate and had it cleaned for you though. I would ask them to hire an adjumma to come in and clean it.

Yeah, leaving an apartment dirty when moving out is common in Korea. Rolling Eyes Ask to have an ajumma come and clean it, and see if you can convince them to pay for it. Regardless, it's pretty cheap.

The teachers that left, had they any class and respect for others, should have cleaned the appartment. It was their responsability.

I have never come into a dirty apartment like that. I would think it's unheard of.
