| I was told that I need this? What is it? Will i be provided one by my recruiter/School? Or do I need to get one before my trip? Thanks! |

Are you from the UK? I couldn't tell by any of your posts.
If so you need to write an application letter to the inland revenue/customs office in your area. Mine was Concept House, Sheffield. Just do a google search to find yours.
Tell them in the letter who you're being employed by and for how long, and give them your National Insurance number. And then wait...and wait...and wait. Mine took 3 months to arrive  However, I don't think such a long wait is normal. I think they lost my original application so I faxed it back through to them.

| You only need it if you are working for public school and want to be exempt from paying taxes the first 2 years. If you want to pay the taxes dont worry about it. Easy to get it if you are in the US. If you are in Korea, it can be a hassle like everything else they ask for. |

Form 6166, but my school exempted me without it. I told them I ordered a transcript and then they never asked again. At the time I didn't know if a transcript would work and I thought I would try, but since they never asked again I found out that nothing worked quite well. |

Sorry, but in my humble opinion this is not good advice.
I am from NZ and the charming ladies at internal affairs or immigration or whatever government department you care to mention REFUSED to even write a letter for me saying that I was a resident. They said that my passport should be enough proof of residency. I relayed this to my co-teacher many times and even showed her numerous emails from government branches concerning the non-existence of a Certificate Of Residency. The matter was dropped and I thought "Hurrah!" right up to the moment I was dinged with a considerable tax bill at the end of the year.
Get the certificate because nothing sometimes doesn't work at all. |

Shucks, sorry. Shall I rectify my post for you to say something like; Sorry, but in my humble opinion your description of what happened may not be applicable in all cases and may entice a newbie into thinking that in his case he could use "nothing" which unfortunately does not always work "quite well". Actually, that would probably be overly pedantic. Forget I said anything!!!
