Not sure about the global banking cartel and all that, I think someone has been watching too much zeitgeist movie. However I do agree much of the corporate world is outrageously corrupt and vile. But all that banking business they talk about with the federal reserve and IMF is based on bad economy from some Australian economists. Could be wrong though
So basically I wont take the job unless I agree with it, and I am being told that is getting hard to find.
Should I be looking into taiwan and japan? |
Not sure there's a global banking cartel? All the proof is there for anyone who wants to look. It's just that economics is boring. It turns people off.
Tell me I'm a fool in February. By that time, I expect the "official"unemplyment rate to be about 10 percent. Of course, the unofficial but true unemployment rate--including the discouraged workers and the part-time slaves--will be at 22 percent.
BTW, do you know which administration cooked the books on unemployment? The Clinton administration. You folks were silly enough to think Bill was the president. He was just a lap-dog to Robert Rubin--another Goldman boy and the guy who killed the Glass-Steagall Act. "President" Billy wrote it's death into law.
You're so naive.
God bless democracy. |
You want to cite your sources and provide some proof? You make claims you cannot substantiate and you call me naive.

Educate yourself.
However I was in error, it was Austrian economists not Australian which are influencing your conspiracy thoughts about a global banking cartel. |
You guys need to educate yourselves. This stimulus crap is just another bubble.
It will burst just after Christmas. And it's not a blue or red issue. It's a blue and red issue.

Maybe I'll see you at the nearest tent city. |

One more thing before I sack out. I don't want this to happen. I ain't cheering it on. I hope by this time next year, US unemployment is a 4.5 percent. Then everybody on this site can call me filthy names. You can send them as pm's. I won't tell the moderators.
But by this time next year, REAL unemployment--not the fake stuff sent out by the blue and red liars--will be at 25 percent. The discouraged workers. The part-timers. I know it. You know it. It's already at 17 percent.
And it's going to last for years and years. But when something dies, something new is reborn. Perhaps the rebirth will be better. Nevertheless, I'm too old for this crap. I just hope I'll live long enough to see the transformation. |

Korea's per capita income is $27,647. It is a 1st world nation. |
It might have a first world economy. But it ain't a 1st world nation.
The average wage here is just below 20,000 dollars. That's not too hot. |
The U.S. per capita hovers near $40,000. Although lately it's sure to have dipped substantially... |

I hope NOBODY wants it to happen... when I was in Korea, I remember watching the US news, and wondring if life had become a horror show, and thankful I was away from the movie.... and now Im edging to get back!
I was walking near my apartment a few months ago, and had a hat on that had a flaming bird. A woman came to me and said, "Phoenix?" while pointing at it. I said, "Yes it is the Phoenix" and thought I hope this is a good luck sign not just for me, but everyone. everywhere. |

On the other hand, look at all the threads popping up on here with well-qualified people saying they're not getting any replies from recruiters. In the past they would have been inundated.

I saw a thought provoking in one's face documentary fairly recently about Walmart. The stealing scene was a port authority official who said that she sees a whole lot of resources going out (from the main California port) and a whole lot of Chinese products coming in.
For the moment Americans get the cheap goods a Wallmart, whoopee. No-one complains (in their right mind), no American, about Wallmart. BUT the little factories in America can't compete with southern China factory-world feeding the dictates of Walmart's product buyers.
What looked/looks good (cheap products for Americans at Wallmart) ends up hollowing out America. No jobs left, unless you want to work at Wallmart (I don't mean literally "no jobs left", I'm just trying to be hysterical here:)).
I don't know about all this gloom and doom stuff, just saying, carry on.
Enjoy your life carpe diem. |

So I guess this is a case of both POSITIVE and NEGATIVE indicators... I'm sure there is an economic term for all this, but it escapes me now. If I ever knew it.... another reason I should have studied THAT in college... |

rory... you have absolutely zero critical thinking skills. Someone noticing a phoenix is a sign that the economy will recover?
asmith: what will you say if you are wrong about this downturn in early 2010? I think you are right but it sounds like you are not leaving any room for yourself to be wrong. How confident are you that Christmas sales in the US will tank? 80%? 90%? |

If the government doesn't hand out checks to the citizens like Bush did or Obama is doing with cash for clunkers, then sales will be in the tank. How can people spend with 17 percent real unemployment.
Obama might hand out freshly printed money to the folks. In fact, it's one of my predictions. That way they can spend the dough at Walmart and Best Buy creating false retail numbers.
A second stimulus is on the way to cover the upcoming disaster in the commercial real-estate market.
We are now in a depression. This is just a death of a thousand cuts. |

South Korea is a developed nation with an advanced economy.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Developed_country |
I respectfully disagree. I remember reading in the Korean Herald that the government is worried because median household income has dipped below 20 grand. |
Correct, this is a screwed up country with an equally screwed up economy.
Korea's unemployment rate is getting worse, and the govt is doing F@#k all about it. Recently it sent interns to overseas for on tax money and there was no work for the interns because the companies didn't agree to having interns in the first place. Typical ROK, do and no brain! What a bunch of monkeys! |

Hey aSmith, would you just shut up? Yes, we understand that you think the the impending apocalypse is coming. Not everyone thinks so. Just agree to disagree. Being clever with the board name Adam Smith does not give you the authority on economics. Just like me, Big Pun, does not give me the authority of the best buffets and rap music.
Won't you feel great about yourself if that your prophecy come true huh? You must be one of those sad people who are angry they were not smart enough to figure out the white collar world, but too lazy to work hard enough in the blue collar world. I feel bad for you. No wonder why you feel it is necessary to try and scare others into your sad point of view.
Capitalism and the financial systems are not going to melt into doom. If you actually came out of your hole and looked at some economic data once and while you would see that SURPISE SURPRISE - France and Germany have come OUT of the recession.
There are many smart people who think the US will be out of it by next spring. There are many good indicators that the economy has stabilized. Unemployment is one of the last indicators, because firms try to put off hiring until it is necessary or warranted. (See economics 101) So when you keep harping on the Real unemployment, (NOT 17%) it actually dropped 0.02% from 14.5% to 14.3% of June to July. Also people are working involuntarily part time in that number (ie: 32 hours or less) so while that is not great, those people are not standing in breadlines.
http://www.thestreet.com/story/10567784/1/the-real-unemployment-rate-is-143.html
Stop trying to put fear in some of the people on this board. It accomplishes NOTHING. If your opinions were based on real statistics or theory, then by all means; cite and post.
