so i got it through the consulate in seattle but am i supposed to do something in korea to finalize the visa? my dad is telling me i have to go somewhere once i'm there but i'm not really understanding what he's saying :[

You'll have to find out: whether the job is a public school or a private school (hagwon). I doubt you'd gotten a public school job (SMOE, EPIK, GEPIK) without knowing about it. Most likely it's a hagwon (different dress code)
Visa: What your father is saying is probably this: you can go to Korea on a tourist visa and convert to F-4 visa. So, he told you somewhere in Korea to go and do that.

i'm w/SMOE and i already have my F4 visa. it came in the mail today he just mentioned in passing that i'm supposed to go somewhere in korea to finalize it, but i have no idea what he's talking about since i already have the F4 visa.

That's a good point. Since I've never been accused of having libido (either traditional or Jung-ian sense) in my bio-sphere, menifestation of predatory sensorial-mass in my cyber-sphere would indicate a breach in protocol, somewhere. I'll get back to you on that.
