Hi,
I need a bottle of neem oil (spider mites!), some diatomaceous earth and dolomite lime, and some good quality, organic fertilizers for my house plants, kitchen herbs and future outdoor garden (next spring ). I'd also like a soil test kit and an EC/Ph meter. I found a website that sells Neem oil, but I can't seem to find the fertilizer and other stuff. I'm in Daegu and have yet to find a decent garden supply shop.
I'll be in Seoul, this weekend perhaps, and I'm wondering if any avid gardeners out there can tell me where I can find said items. I know the street near Dongdaemun that has a lot of seed/plant sellers, but I'm wondering if there is a better district or specific shop to hit.
Thanks! |

there's a small gardening shop 4 floors below me. maybe tomorrow i'll take your list to the main lady and see what products she has, or at least where she can point you. i'm in non-hyeon (gangnam). |

In case anyone now or in the future cares to know:
I went to the big flower market (Yangjae Flower Market) and found very little of what I needed. There are a few gardening supply shops there, but they sell only the most basic things.
I then went to the area between Dongdaemun and Jogno 5-ga stations (line 1) and had only slightly better success finding things.
It seems Korea is not very sophisticated at the horticultural level, yet. (good lord, they don't even know what dolomite lime is for at these places) I suspect, as well, that there are high tariffs on agricultural items, hence the lack of imported goods in these shops. Things are slightly better on the Korean websites, but one has to do a lot of hunting and then deal with Korean instructions. I'm just going to order from the US... |
