Is it easy to get a public school position if applying as soon as applications are accepted for the next semester? SMOE, GEPIK, EPIK - are they all fairly easy / guaranteed to secure a position? Thanks.

If you apply directly, my guess is that you will get a position. However, you may not like what you get. I suggest working with a recruiter. That way you can be more selective.

Yes, I would work with a recruiter. My concern is that right now it seems very difficult to get any position now (public or hagwon) without extensive qualifications.

Yea, schools have already got teachers (at least for the older students). I suggest you go with all recruiters you can, don't send any documents out until one gets you a school and has them sign a contract.

Keep pushing until January or so, and then decide if maybe you should take a hagwon job. If you want to increase your chances, look into TESOL or TEFL training. I haven't done it, but that's one hangup schools have been bringing up. Even the middle school I am going to in September has brought it up. So, it looks like I will need to do that.

If you don't mind an elementary school position, then it doesn't really matter. I am sure you can get an elementary school position. Even now, you might be able to get one. I have had offers the past 2 months for only hagwons and elementary schools. I doubt all of them are filled up.

There are ALWAYS openings- many teachers never show up or do runners right away.
