What do people do when their pet dies? Tell their school? Bury it? |

Would you ask your boss back home what to do with a dead pet? |

No way.
But since we're not back home, I would ask what others here usually do in that situation. |

I saw an older Korean couple bury their little dog in our local park under a tree and put a little cement headstone on the site. I think I may have seen some other options listed on animalrescuekorea.org. |

Ever see that weird Howard Hesseman/ Christian Glover movie, Rubin and Ed? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0102817/ says, "Reclusive Rubin Farr teams up with vocal but unsuccessful multi-level salesman Ed Tuttle on a quest to bury Rubin's dead cat in the "perfect spot." Their trip takes them across Utah's desert where they have run-ins with Ed'd ex-wife Rula and an elusive Andy Warhol critic."
You'll need a cooler, some ice, a shovel, and a nice spot. Find a forest somewhere maybe? Or perhaps a burial at sea? Maybe a viking burial on the Hangang...you'd have to be stealthy but it'd be a good way to send your furry pal on to Pet Valhalla.
Though Korea's very urban, nobody is ever more than an hour or so away from a wooded area, even if it's a small one. Hell, bury him under a tree on Nam-san. |

I had to euthanize a very sick kitty and the vet provided cremation service for a reasonable fee. I could have kept the ashes for an additional fee if I wanted. |

Whatever you do, do it soon or your apartment might start smelling like my alley. |

To prevent your apartment smelling like the previous posters alley......put the pet in the freezer while you make your decision.
(I put my banana skins in the freezer and leave them there for weeks until there's enough to fill one trash bag.)
But take the pet out if you have guests over in the next few days, they'd get an awful shock if they saw open the fridge door.
Only joking. I don't know what you'd do in a situation like that. Leave it outside your noisy neighbors door, or stuff it in their letter box? I don't know.
Tell us what you decide to do. |
