I know Insadong appears to be THE place to go for the best selection of music gear but how do prices compare here in Korea versus the States? My band is looking for a simple 6-10 channel digital mixer. Searched of the Net in the States shows we can get such a mixer for $100 - $200 USD. Is this type of music gear like amny other hobbies or interests in Korea where the prices are jacked up just because there is an interest group. Bicycles and golf gear are prime examples. |

Fantastic! I'd narrowed it down to an Alesys unit w/FX but we can [ick from the Beringer line if needed. The prices are higher here likely due to import duties but we get paid in $ so that helps a bit.
BTW, eyes still open for a bike for you.
Cheers! |

Midnightrunner, I checked out your podcast... cool buddy. I bookmarked it on my laptop. I appreciate what you are doing. The interview about guitars was super cool. I can't wait to be in Korea and search for deals and things. |

I have a Behringer ub802 with (according to the instructions) 6 inputs, if u want it. Used a few times for the phantom mic power. Might be good enough for a starter for your band. Would sell cheap I reckon.

Woah, I spit my beer back into my glass. Deals for guitars, in Korea?
Even Corts are more expensive than in the States. And they are overpriced for what they are (plywood body under an inch of lacquer) anyway. Man, 800,000 won for a Cort is not unusual. I'd rather go to the States and pick me up a second hand MIA Fender or even a Gibson for that price.
PS: if you're coming to Korea bring some 13 guage elec strings with you. -really hard to find here. I can only get slinkies and 10's. I hate them, my fingers slide off they are so thin. And Diaddarios are unfortunately the choice here. Gotta go online to get better imported strings but often are sold out all the time.
U know, after you come here and a year later and you put on your first set of Samick strings you'll remember these ^ words and laugh a little you'll be sitting there disappointed even before you've finished tuning and ready to rip them off after just a few chords. |
