so as the thread titles says i'm thnking of buying a ps3 off of amazon. how smoothly (or rough) should i expect this to go? it costs $299...is customs gonna hit me with some sort of charge and if so what am i looking at on top of the rape shipping that i'm almost definitely gonna have to pay?

and would it be cheaper to get a friend in japan to buy and ship one for me instead?

i am looking into seeing if i can get it shipped it to a friend i have on base.

Truthfully, you should look to buy one from dave's buy/sell/trade forum. You will get a lot for your buck.

If you import something from Amazon, you will most likely be slapped with a huge tax, like 25%.

Just get one here on Dave's or from Yongsan!

korea isn't getting the ps3 slim until like the end of september according to the guy at the local gamestore here

i just checked on amazon an apparently they won't ship here anyway...i'm most likely going to get it shipped (free shipping) to my friend and then have him send it to me here.

does plastering "USED" all over the box really work? or should i just have him open it and repack it in a different box?

Tell your friend to take it out of the box. Remove the plastic wrappings and twist ties on the wires. Put everything back in the box. Go to the post office and write "Used" and the value of the item around $100.

You'll get it in a couple weeks. I think Shipping would be pricey though.

when my parents sent me my xbox 360, shipping was around $50-60. from what i've been hearing the new ps3 is gonna cost more than that here.

do any of you guys have any experience getting things shipped from japan? bcuz my other option is to have a friend buy me one there and send it.
