Illysook, I see there are not too many people from the south on here, haha. Your opening post made me smile.

I'm glad that you were amused. I believe that was my intention...and is there anything that mentally takes you home like the music?

And here's the rest of the "ignorant hillbilly" lyrics, substitute place names as necessary.

Well I ain't never had a problem with California
There's a lot of good women, from Sacramento to Corona
But them Hollywood types, after a while wear on ya
Strutin' around in their size zeros,
Skinny little girls no meat on their bones
Never even heard of George Jones

CHORUS
Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls
Ain't you glad there's still a few of us left, who know how to rock your world
Ain't afraid to eat fried chicken and dirty dance to Merle
Ain't you glad we ain't all California girls

There ain't nothing wrong with plastic surgery
Well, Dolly Parton never looked so good to me
Everybody oughta be exactly who they want to be
But that Paris Hilton gets under my skin
With her big fake smile and her painted on tan
Never had a chance at a real man

Oh God yes OP. This is exactly why I'm glad you're not all Korean girls. So please, continue to bounce your heavy thighs around to ignorant hillbilly music while pounding down a bucket of deep fried, greasy chicken that's loaded with more calories and saturated fat than I've eaten in a week.

Because next to rotund, sweaty, loud, and horribly unattractive white girls like that... my Korean girlfriend looks gorgeous.

No kidding. The American Midwest is the land of overweight people who walk around with a mean, serious look on their face 24/7.

But they have found Jesus, so they will be saved.....

Korean girls are smartest high IQ girls.

Korean girls are prettiest girls.

You understand?

I can already imagine the fake twangs and keyboards in that song. Country music has died a horrible death, to the point that anything that comes out as good country tries to hide under the label 'folk' for fear of being put in the same category as rich gentry wearing glitter and rhinestones and insisting on how common-man they are.

Last night, I started packing to go home. I wasn't drinking, but I was tired, slap happy, listening to Gretchen Wilson, (my brother's favorite) and changing up the lyrics a bit. I'm from the midwestern U.S. where people my age usually listen to NPR and a bit of classic rock, but that gets boring the radio dial may go just about anywhere.

I can't wait to get home, I haven't seen any live shows in just about forever. I know that it's possible here. I saw a couple shows right after i got here, but the day to day grind of living here took it's toll and my tolerance for loud and crowded bars has been at an all time low.

Thank you!

And as far as burning Nashville down, I can see the point, but it would put some of my favorite folkie, singer/songwriters out of business and "modern country" is really just another flavor of pop music, which I put into the category of "guilty pleasures." Kinda like fried chicken...not good to consume every day, but nothing to be afraid of either.

For some reason my head played the Beach Boy's "I wish they all could be California girls" when I read the thread title.

The lady is listening to the Haggard, she's alright in my book.

I actually got a Korean-American female friend of mine started on the Hank Williams, Sr.

This Korean girl would always look at me like I was nuts and say to me- "Hey, You're Korean, why do you listen to Country music?" Then I played Hank for her. Then they she liked Hank and then she liked Country Music. Then it was another Korean person asking us "You two are Korean, why do you listen to country music?"

Anyone who hates on Country music is hating on white people's R&B and has been so brainwashed by fear of anything white that they are prejudiced and bigoted.

Yes, (real) country music is the howl of the white trash wolf.

But like many music styles, it's been tainted by big record labels.

Such is life, such is music.

Punk went from this anti-establishment, DIY ethos to a bunch of whiny college kids. The Army of Freshmen singing "Well, are you gonna sign my year book?" Same deal.

Really? Are you freaking kidding me?! Is that something daddy told you all the years you were growing up? I grew up in the poor white slum neighborhoods of east Texas, jumping from trailers to one bedroom houses while my dad drove a 'big rig' truck for work. All the people around me listened to country music while I was growing up, my dad, friends, girlfriends, everyone, and guess what!!! I HATE country music! I always have. I think it's terrible whinny, depressing nonsense. Country music is where people like Kenny Loggins go when they are washed up and can't write REAL music anymore. By your logic, I guess I'm also "prejudiced and bigoted," having a fear of anything black because I don't like chopped and screwed rap... Rolling Eyes
