I just sent a package to the U.S. today using the Korean post office (Korea Post - EMS).

No one spoke English, so I was unable to get an estimated arrival date in the U.S. Can anyone who's sent a small package to the U.S. tell about how long I can expect it to take?

Thanks.

I've only ever shipped packages to the US via regular post and those have arrived within a week and a half. I'd say you can expect your to arrive slightly sooner...unless you're shipping to some little country bumpkin town.

Can I ask why you expect mine to arrive sooner?

Is EMS part of Korea Post? I'm assuming it's just the branch of Korea Post that ships internationally...

I've received packages from Korea in about ten days, no sweat. And I'm in the little country bumpkin town.

Can one send luggage with the postal service here or would another service be recommended in this instance?

EMS is air mail and expensive, but takes like only 1.5 weeks. The other is surface which is cheap, but takes about 2 months. I was sending a 13kg box yesterday to the US and EMS was going to cost 127,000 won while regular surface costed 37,000. I wasn't in a hurry to get it there in a week and a half via EMS so I sent it surface mail would should take about 2 months.

I want to know how to use the tracking number to check it's status.
