I dunno about that. I know Pakistanis that have to fight with their parents over their arranged marriages to their COUSINS! Some traditional families believe in keeping it in the family.

Not to mention, if you want a new, younger wife, accuse your current wife of adultery. Go see the Stoning of Soraya M. for an theatrical example. Or the simple acid to the face attack and then disown the spouse. Or the douse your spouse in kerosene, set fire to her, and call it a kitchen accident. Or just shoot her in the head and call it an honor killing. I've done a little volunteer work with domestic violence victims and the ones from traditional Muslim backgrounds are just horrific. There is a wing of a Pakistani hospital dedicated to wives who try to commit suicide to escape their marriages. The stories coming out of there are truly horrific.

Yikes !

My gf is from India, and she tells me stufff about her family like men beating their wives with impunity there. I also find her mother very subservient to men and also me. Gives me the goosepimples.

Not all South Asians and Muslims are this way at all ! There are a lot of drunk American scum on Maury Povich too Smile

Scary how some people think around here.

I heard somewhere that, perversely, while the wife is pregnant, is actually the most likely time that the husband will cheat on her.

Women tend to look more at the whole package, I've been told.

I have gotten back into working out, but I don't care to build up a huge amount of muscle. My wife likes a healthy, muscular frame, but several Korean women (friends, coworkers, etc.) have told me they think it's disgusting when a guy has too many muscles. Korean women like a guy that's thin and in shape.

Personally, I'm not impressed with the damage one can do to their bodies by working out too hard, cutting body fat to dangerously low levels, etc..

Just confirming the muscles-are-gross thing.

Lean and in shape is sexiest.

If my choices are between a tubby guy and a guy with bulging, rippling biceps, I'm going with Tubby. Big huge muscles really, really gross me out.

it really all depends on how one defines musclebound. Using the oiled up, juiced up bodybuilders as an example is not a great one, since how many guys in real life do you know that look anything remotely like that?

that's why I talk about the "NFL Player look". Thomas Jones, for e.g.

re musclebound
some people use that term for anyone with any muscles, which I personally find ridiculous but whatever.

The link between working out and self confidence which leads to increased charisma it a link someone already pointed out and one which shouldn't be underestimated. The trick is not to cross the fine line between confidence and arrogance.

just like yesterday I was walking out of my place to go to the gym dressed up in my ready to work out regalia (since I shower and change at home). Three near adjosshi types see me from across the street and they just stop what they're doing and stare - with their jaws significantly lower than the usual distance from their upper lip.

and I'm thinking ... that's right Mod Edit for reference to a plural of female canine you Mod Edit for reference to an act of copulation stare!

then I went off and had a GREAT workout.

p.s. too bad the women don't stare more.

generally true.

but you also need to define Asian.

in places like Philippined and Indonesia and other SE Asian places, Arnold would probably get more attention (for the mere fact of being so distinct)

the Borg Collective values everyone looking like everyone else Very Happy

oreovictim... it is a sad occurrence in the USA that has been going on for 5 years or so. Popped collars are popular with tools in their early twenties... usually polo shirt victims. 80's throwback style... blame it on Abercrappy and Bitch... and Amqueerican Eagle clothing. The interior states of the nation where douchebags sport these horrible clothes... I imagine that Itaewon is flowing with these types in the form of off duty soldiers?

I worked with a guy from New Zealand who popped his collars. I didn't know that it was big in America.

From your posting, I thought you were in your 40s. You are way too mean and bitter re:women to only be 25!

I don't see how you could interpret me as being mean or bitter about women. About older Koreans that didn't marry and ended up in management positions.. it's true. Male or female. They see it a chance to exact revenge on the "happy people". I've even noticed it in some of my coworkers that aren't married and are just normal teachers. Man, they hit the early/mid 30's, and it's like someone pissed in their cheerio's each morning. Maybe it's just that they've worked like a dog their whole life (as is the Korean culture) and have little to show for it, or that they go home to an empty house, or even worse, go home to their parents that are always pushing them to move out and marry anything that says "yes".

I wouldn't consider myself bitter about women. Sure, I've been burned a few times. It stings, no doubt. But if anything, it has taught me to be more careful as to whom I trust, to whom I enter a relationship with, and whom to give my heart to. You can't be afraid to love, but there's also no sense in constantly putting yourself out there, to be taken advantage of and tossed aside by anyone that walks by.

I doubt very seriously chicks are into Jones for his body. His multi-million dollar NFL contract on the other hand....

I can't believe this thread is still going strong. Here are some facts, some of which I learned from reading women's magazines and others from experience:

1) Women do not care that much what a guy looks like as long as he's not REALLLY OLD, REALLLY fat/ugly/scary. Just normal, average looking, no matter if she's a 9 or 10. Women are not primarily driven by looks, though it is one part of the equation. But it is not the primary focus like men.

** I think exceptions might be: rich, older heiresses

2) Um... men in their 30's? Are you kidding? That is prime time. Only immature girls in college date their own age. After that, women are looking for a) status b) provider potential. A guy in his 30s or 40s has both. The bigger the age difference the more the perceived status. As long as he meets the #1 requirement (not totally disgusting), they're game.

3) Women eventually decide whether they are going to sleep with you based on something you can't buy off the internet, acquire or see. They are attracted to metaphysical, NOT the physical. In other words, personality. I repeat that mantra every day. It helps me figure out why the hottest, most desirable women are with average looking guys. #2 (status/provider) + the metaphysical = she wants your body.

4) Age barriers in Korea only applies to women. Men can behave however they want as long as they have status and provider potential.

Korean women only care about status and provider ability, not looks at all. They actually shun good looking guys as "playboys".

Does anyone know who Han Chae Young is? She married an average, but well off guy from a good family (status) who had a good job (provider) but was by no means a super Korean stud (i.e. Byung Hun Lee or Jung Woo Sung). Same with Lee Young Ae. Just got hitched to an K-American (status). (http://popseoul.com/2009/08/27/lee-young-ae-gets-hitched/)
