It is true that Koreans are about as racist as the average white American but I would not give up hope yet.

How long have you been here, and are you a Korean, kyopo, or westerner?
The statement above is not correct. The correct statement is that the average Korean is a lot more racist than the average american. |

Kiwiboy is correct. The average white American has had much more experience relating to non-white persons. |

| I would also take another leap and say that the average kiddy hogwon director is more racist than the average Korean. They're so terrified of the possibility of a backlash from the parents that they refuse to consider a black teacher even if he has much better qualifications. |

Huh? I see this as the parents being racist and the director keeping his clients happy, hence the "Koreans in general are more racist" bit. |

Batman what the *beep* are you writing about? Your first sentence reads like it was taken out of a Black Panther pamphlet.
Maxx, the preceeding statement in itself is racist.
As far as the Texan goes; if he was indeed one of those white Americans who happen to be racist, then *beep* that cracker. He doesn't represent the majority. There are quite a few assholes, klansmen, and inbreds in America who are vocal about their views, but they are the minority by far.
What about:
the oj trial
rodney king
the american judicial system
the gated and/or segregated communities which are oh-so common throughout America (great story in the economist which commented on the price Americans are willing to pay to live away from the others)
the depiction of non-whites in American mass entertainment
the current treatment of arabs by the U.S. government, media, etc
the trouble many people seemed to have had in accepting that Thomas Jefferson sired less-than-shiny-white offspring
Strom Thurmond
the over-representation of blacks and other minorities in the armed services
the racial generalizations and other derogatory comments that can easily be found on this forum (among others)
"And yes, there are black people in every state of the Union, even Utah"
Never said there weren't. |

There are over 11 million people in Texas. We are ALL guilty of your astute perception. |

Ok. I have the experience, the professionalism, the recommendations, even a return ticket to Korea. One big question...Why can't I get a job Before I came to Korea I went through the usual problems for those of us who happen to be black or anything but white. I would send my CV and would be flooded with responses. Once the photo was sent, you would think I sent a virus through the computer. Do any of you know of any schools who don't mind hiring non-whites |
You were flooded with responces? WOW!!! When I was in the USA, only one job out of all I applied to in Korea responded, and that was the job I took. Once in Korea, after 2 years at that job, I was looking for a new job. Again only one responce: I took it. Then after 2 years at that job, same story. One responce, and I took it. |

| As a matter of fact, the last time I was flooded was on a fishing trip with my friend Noah and his family. Man that was one strange dude. He had more pets than a zoo, and insisted on bring them all along on the fishing trip. |
