So when I moved into my apartment, the previous tenant had taken the toilet seat (!!!). After pointing this out to my landlady, she immediately went and bought a new one. While I appreciate the efficiency of her action, she bought me one of those cushioned seats that I have rarely seen anywhere but here. It is screwed onto the toilet as tightly as I can get it, but it still slips around and drives me crazy. I've never had a hard toilet seat do that to me.

So....where can I buy a reasonably-priced, hard toilet seat? I've looked at Emart. They have resin ones with sparkles which are 40,000-odd won. I don't consider this to be a reasonable price. I've looked at hardware type stores (maybe I need to try some more), and several Daiso stores. All have the cushioned type only.

I'm thinking under 20,000won. Anyone know?

E-mart or HomePlus should have them relatively cheaply. I am surprised the one you saw was 40+K.

I had the exact problem you had and bought a hard plastic one at Homeplus for W9900.

You should be able to get one at your local neighborhood hardware store for around 10,000 won

Make sure its the right size.

I bought a hard seat, but the water resevoir is curved in teh front so the actual seat won't stay up. Its annoying to I have to hold the seat up when doing a #1.

Toilet seats in Korea are an absolute scam.

They are made of the cheapest plastic, and are made to break soon on purpose. Want to buy a "real" toilet seat like back home -- good luck. Expect to pay a lot more than 40,000 won (those resin ones are not "real" toilet seats).

My seat was missing a nut so I just replaced it the other day, 12000 from Homeplus. Couple notes -

1. Make sure the size is right. I got an elongated seat, and the bowl is a standard bowl, so my seat length is a bit too long.

2. The plastic seats WILL last you a decent amount of time IF you don't beat 'em up! Don't drop the seats/lids, don't come crashing down on them, etc.

3. Make sure that the bolts are the same size as the holes. If your seat is wobbling around, the holes might be too big for the bolts.

Wow, thanks for the help everyone. I swear to god these cushioned seats are so uncomfortable and gross. I'll have to check a bigger supermarket than mine I think, or keep my eye out for a hardware store. Also measure the bowl I guess.... The nuts are tight, but they come loose. I can't tighten them any harder by hand, and there's no room to get pliers, let alone a spanner or any other implement in there to tighten them more. Even when they are tight, the damn seat still doesn't stay still. If I lean to one slide, it can even pop one end inside the bowl! Gross, gross, gross!

Thanks pkang0202, but I'm a girl...maybe this would be a plus for me when I have a *ahem* gentleman caller *ahem*. I won't go into my bathroom to find the toilet seat up!

The bidet seats are about 200K, so I'm sure thats why they are taken.

PKANG; Had the same problem before. It's only a matter of time before there's an accident. Velcro or magnets glued in place will make peeing a much safer activity!

Those nuts should NOT come loose. They should be the white neoprene/polyethylene/plastic nuts that will have a lock-washer type face on it, so when you tighten it down, it will put pressure on it and "lock" in place. If it continuously comes off, the nuts are crap. Even without a wrench (spanner, ha!), hand tightening should get the job done, and when you tighten it, you'll feel and hear a clicking sound, that means its locking in place.

Thanks for everyone's help. I made the trip to Homeplus today and bought a white, hard plastic beauty for 9,900 won. It fits perfectly and it's bliss! I'm no longer in danger of leaning over and ending up on the floor, or worse, in the toilet! Small pleasures
