There seems to be an explosion of "International" festivals and events in Korea.
Some of the most famous and biggest festivals in the world are actually international. are actually famous and are actually interesting, yet the people behind those events don't feel the need to be wankers and call their events "International".
We have the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Madi Gra, the Edinburgh Comedy Festival. Cannes Film Festival.

In contrast I've seen an "International" food festival in Incheon where ALL the food was Korean, but there where little flags of other countries fluttering about.

To the organisers of these Korean "International" Magic, Kids, Food, Sport, Film, Kimchi, Music, Mime, Korean traditional dance, Sand Castle, Soju Festivals, stop being a bunch of dorks and realise that just because the poster says "International", doesn't make it an "International" event.

It sounds trendy to use English words. What would you prefer, "Busan International Film Festival," or "Busan Lotte Loving You Rainy Everyday Dynamic Film Festival"? Cool

I gave up a long time ago trying to tell people that the annual "Rape Seed Festival" near Cheongju wasn't a great sounding idea in English.

I busted my butt to try to be involved with the Incheon Fair. Heck, I don't work and I have valuable skills. I was informally hired by the director of marketing to be the international food director. Travel, culinary experience, food safety knowledge, and management skills made me a good fit. FAIL. The topic was never responded to again. I've seen the crap at the fair and the shallow depth of understanding of international foods by the staff.

In addition, on another matter, I did a formal presentation for the fair to include a running race, bicycle race, and a bicycle rental program for the Incheon fair and the opening of the bridge. Again, immediate discontinuation of contact with me on these issues after they were presented. Guess what! Those events are happening AND so far, they SUCK hard.

I like my Korean friends but I'll never offer to help or even ask to help anyone that's not under the wheels of a bus or choking while I'm in Korea. Actually, that's not entirely true, I'm trying to help another organization right now and they are acting the exact same way. I think I should stop this nonsense.

The one I was involved with was the World Traditional Archery Festival (WTAF). I use the word "was" because they are biting the hands that feed them, so I probably will stop participating. However, it truly is an international festival; for the past three years, around a hundred archers from around the world, and from about two dozen countries, have joined in each time.
