How are the optometrists in Korea? How do they compare to US optometrists? How do the prices compare?
I need an eye check, glasses and contacts. Should I do it in the US or do it in Korea?
Thanks |

I don't know about the quality of optometrists here yet, but my friend told me that they're pretty cheap compared to back home, so it's a good place to lose your glasses. Not that I would do so intentionally.
I was also given a free lens glass cleaner two days ago. I don't know exactly what he was telling me, but I'm assuming that the glasses center here at my university is giving a good discount for students here and I should buy some.
The glass cleaner was nice. It had puppies on it. |

Glasses fall into two categories: generic and brand name.
Generic are super cheap - you might even get it free if you do the whole check up thing.
Brand Names: run at least 100,000 won, mine were 220,000.
Two boxes of Acuvue cost me 43,000 won
Eye exams are free if you buy contact or glasses. Just eye exam isn't much i think. You have all those local small shops that do exams just fine, if you need to see a specialist i went to Asan. |
