Just want to confirm that this sentence is the present perfect form.
Have you been to this film festival before?
Have + been = present perfect.
All correct, just making double sure.

Looks fine to me.
The [Have you (ever) ...?] structure is listed as the third case of using the
present prefect in Essential Grammar in Use (Cambridge, Raymond Murphy). |

OK, cheers, I looked it up in Swan, Practical English Usage and it made me slightly uncertain as to whether or not it was actually the continuous form (even though it has no continuous verb in the sentence, I was thinking maybe there is an implied continuity to the sentence.) |

The sentence is fine. Been is the past perfect tense of be. Have you been a the proper way to ask if someone has attended the event. |
