i saw it live. It was awesome.

Blount has a sweet straight right. He could have a career in the UFC.

A little bit later after the punch, you see fans blatantly taunt him. Its funny because when Blount goes after them, the fan doing most of the yelling jumps back and uses his buddies as shields.

It was a bad loss for Oregon, made worse when BSU players were rubbing it in after the game.

Some people say no matter what was said or done, the Oregon player had no right to punch someone. I disagree. That BSU player talking smack got what was coming to him. I bet you now he'll think twice before trash talking the losing team right after the game.

Fans too. I think its alright for fans of the winning team to be happy about the win, but its not alright to rub it in to the players who actually go out there and play.

The whole Politically Correct media will tell you, "Its unexcusable" or "That should never happen." I know deep down those guys are thinking, "Hell yeah!" Think of the ESPN pundits. Most of them used to be players. I'm sure they've thought in their minds about how they would love to take a shot at that fan heckling them in the stands. Or at an opposing player that mouths off right after the game.

Was that Simms calling that game, it sounds like him. If it was him, I would like to add a little extra something. I dislike talking negative about a fellow human being, but he's a donkey, plain and simple.

The way I see this, a D1 team was beaten by a high school team and that pissed off a lot of the Ducks. Yes, the player that got smacked, probably said something dumb, but you have to keep your composer, win or lose angry or not. That's why his teammates gave him crap.

I realise it's easier said than done when you play your heart out for 2.5 hours!!

I take it you know what was said?

I guess I missed the news report which verifies anything bad was said?

I don't know what he said, and I was watching it on slingbox so it was hard to read lips.............but he sure as hell didn't say nice game. Did you see his coach shove him? Even after he picked his sorry sucker punched self off the ground his coach was still yelling at him. It also looked like he tapped blount on the helmet and pushed him on the shoulder pad. I am not a violent man, but if anyone tapped me on the head and then shoved me while talking smack, I'd have to think really hard about dropping them.

The number of posters on Dave's who thinks it's okay to attack someone because they are annoying is shocking. I guess Blount had better consider a career in UFC since he won't be playing any more football this season. Welcome to the real world Blount where talking smack is not a crime but assault is.

EDIT: Here's a youtube link (if it lasts). you can see him smack his teammate too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVDCoNnVbr4

I am sure Blount never uttered a single word before or during the game. (that's sarcasm)

Doesn't matter how much someone is talking, hitting them shows you they were right. All of you saying that Blount was in the right must not have ever played contact sports before or are just morons. It's a sport, there is trash talking on all sides.

For whoever said that the Ducks lost to a high school team, that "high school" team has the best home record in Div 1 football and are ranked 14th, the Ducks were ranked 16th.

Watch the vid again, the guy smacks his shoulder from the side, the guy can't even see if he punched him or slapped him, he just sees and feels an opposing team member smacking his shoulder. The guy in blue made the first move and touched him first.

Its not a matter of how hard the shot was. It was a reasonably hard smack. The guy's hand came from above his head and moved his shoulder pad significantly. The important part is that it hit him in the shoulder while he was looking the other way and he had no way of telling who hit him and how. When he turned there was an opposing player standing there. He doesn't know if the guy tried to pop him and missed or what.
Hout is an idiot for putting his hands on someone in that situation, especially when the guy wasn't looking.

Have you ever worn shoulder pads before? Something like that is barely noticeable. I agree that Hout shouldn't have touched him, but to say that Blount was free to punch him in the face is ridiculous.

I have had opponents talk smack to me before and during a game in which my team won. I would ask them after the game if they had anything else to say, I usually got the same pathetic response that Blount gave. These type of people are what makes sports suck. Shut your mouth and play the game, prove it in your actions, not your talk.

I see. So if you're hit on your shoulder pads and you're not sure who did it or how, it is reasonable to punch a guy in the head who is nearby and looking the other way.

That's correct. But be sure to wait till he turns away, so you can get that full sucker effect.

Also gives you carte blanche to hit your own players after they try to 'dumb ya up', push, shove, smack the police or security guards after they try to restrain you from attacking heckling fans--especially when they touch you first...man, why would they go and do somethin that stupid?
