yes, so what?? im looking to meet people to minimize the "scary" feeling. korea looks now less "scary" to me now, but rather more of "inhospitable" or of general mistrust towards foreingers...

i just assumed you were a girl after reading your other thread. kinda funny.

Sorry dude you sound like kind of a tool. Or a hick. Korea "Scary?!!!" LOL
I dunno about in real life but try not to be a lame-o.
Find one k-dude who isn't a douche and lived overseas (and is around your age) and hook him up with white girls/Russians while he finds you k-girls.
Also get over going to clubs/bars. Drink a bottle of soju ($1) before you go out. You'll be fine. the girls aren't bi-atchy like in Vegas or LA. where they want bottle service before they give you the time of day.

Here are some hints :
Spy Basement - Itaewon.
Hyatt Hotel - the JJ's bar (in the basement) - still going strong. Also upstairs bar (but be careful they're not "working girls")
Hongdae - all over. Avoid bars with GI's and excess English teachers like Tin Pan
Club Answer (look to make sure it a good night depending on DJ/promoter)
Gangnam station - everywhere. coffee places like Pascucci, Coffee Bean, clubs like Eden, Mass (depending on act it can be more/less foreigner friendly)

Saying your were in Seoul probably freaked the one out as she thought that she was your sole reason for coming (lots of arrogance in this country). The others probably saw you and were either nervous or thought that you were too ugly. Keep on truckin' but you may want to try to get to know a K-girl you know and go from there. That will probably help.

I never had any problems meeting girls from the web, but I never wear what they tell me to wear (for the obvious reasons mentioned).
The thing about the girls you'll meet online is that they all speak English, hence many of them have been with foreigners before and know what they are looking for.
The best thing I can say is;

1. Make some Korean friends. Most Korean people I know met their spouses through friends and who have friends who want to get hooked up. When I was with my last k-gf, 8 out of the 13 smoking hot friends she had asked me if I knew any foreigners who I could hook them up with.

2. Join an activity group like a hiking group. There are some Korean women in these groups who are looking to get hooked up.

3. There are some parties in Itaewon and Hongdae, like friendship socials, where Koreans are looking to get hooked up with foreigners.

4. LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!!!!! You will be surprised by how many korean women you can talk to if you speak Korean.

Did I forget something?

This.

OP -- maybe the girls didn't want to meet you for language exchange after all because it's glaringly obvious that you're not a native English speaker.

How has this escaped everyone's notice here?

I'm surprised really, people around here are usually much quicker on that. Maybe they're all just so used to hearing "in chatting online" that it didn't even register.

Just read the thread and it was the first thing I noticed. I scanned through to find somebody mentioning it, but no such luck 'til the end. These days I'm wary of threads possibly aimed at being used against posters on Dave's.

Not everyone on this board is a teacher, and not every non-native English speaker here is, by default, a Korean. (Though I suspect Crossmr's hunch is correct in this case.)

You can't speak English, and you're offering a language exchange?
I'm guessing you weren't a model, either.

the first and last ones are very common mistakes I've heard from a lot of Koreans. I guess he was trying to fool them into thinking he's a gyopo or something.

But you do have the natural advantage of being a white guy. It does help with some. I've seen some dog arse ugly white dudes with some pretty hot K-gals. So it just takes time, patience, and learning their personalities. Best of luck!

I wouldn't say it's an advantage. Only minority of korean girls are open to dating foreigners but the minority happens to be more "clear" of what they want if you get what im saying.

and I'm not sure about ugly dudes with some pretty hot k-gals, I've never seen it

really? i'm an ugly dude who's been with a couple of pretty hot k-gals. it's pretty easy to date out of your league in korea. i just started dating a girl who is out of my league recently. bit of a rich girl, though.
