I work at a university that recently ordered the fumigation of all buildings and residences, ostensibly to combat the H1N1 virus. Does this sound like a reasonable action plan? To me, it reeks of "just do whatever is cheapest so we can tell the senior officials and bureaucrats that, for Korea, we have 'done everything possible' to combat the pandemic" It seems to me that they are willing to use cancer causing bug spray to score immediate political brownie points for their great patriotic efforts at "fighting" the flu.
It seems like they're in a panic because kimchi didn't stop H1N1 (like it supposedly did SARS, HaHa!) and now many foreigners are having to pay a price for utter stupidity.
Am I out to lunch here? |
