Anyone looking forward to the new Zune HD that's coming out?

Has anyone seen the new Samsung YP-R1 yet?

I'm thinking about portable media player for my wife. We already have the iPod Touch 2nd gen; However, I would like to find a PMP that can display soft subtitles for all the English movies/TV shows my wife likes to watch (Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, etc.). Speaking of, anyone know a way I can get the iPod to display smi or srt subs?

I would have waited for the iPhone to come to Korea (some time this year??) but after hearing that they will probably follow China's lead and deactivate the Wi-Fi function, I'm a little turned off.

Need a second opinion. Thanks!

Here's the link for PMP's on enuri.com

http://www.enuri.com/view/Listmp3.jsp?menu=false&islist=Y&cate=0218

Most of them will display subtitles. Definitely the recommended Cowon O2.

Apparently if you use Videora ipod touch video converter (its free) you can add the subs in (.srt or .smi) while you convert the vid to .mp4

If wifi isnt required the Cowon O2 does come highly recommended.

The new Samsung YP-M1 looks pretty nice, again no wifi.

I am waiting for the 3rd gen ipod touch for myself... Apple announcement this week.

Great link! I keep going to Gmarket and Auction but Enuri is even better for comparing electronic gadgets. Since I'm also in the market for a relatively inexpensive netbook, Enuri will now be the first place I check. Thanks again. Thinking about the HP Mini 110.

Hmm...it does seem like the Cowon O2 is best for taking whatever video format you throw at it. Great with all sorts of codecs.

Wow, the 3rd gen Touch will sport a camera too. With this new toy, what's the point in waiting for an iPhone here, right? I hear that they will probably follow China's lead and disable Wi-Fi on the iPhone anyway. No Wi-Fi means no free push notifications/updates on: Email, Twitter, Facebook, built-in App store, etc. which defeats part of the purpose of getting one. Local data rates are huge and having to access music and apps via iTunes every single time is a pain especially if you're not running iTunes on a Mac (slooooow).

Korea is not a very Apple-friendly place.

Plus, I hate converting anything before transferring to my PMP. I just want to drag-and-drop into my PMP.

That's why I got a 16GB Cowon S9. Amoled screen. Very happy with it. And I'm picky about sound quality too.

Yeah I agree. I also own an older Cowon A2 (30G) and it is simply lovely on battery life and codecs. However, as we all know, "more efficient" video formats and codecs keep popping up thus slowly rendering my A2 incompatible. It has trouble playing the newer torrents that sport H.264, Flac, etc. hence my search for a new PMP.

Have you seen Samsung's new Tegra-based YP-M1 (not the same as the YP-R1 I wrote about in my previous post)? It's not officially on sale yet but it has DMB, 3.3 inch AMOLED screen, Bluetooth, etc. and supports a shopping list of codecs.

I wonder how much this thing will go for.
