Does anyone know where I can buy fresh basil in Daegu? I would use the search function, but it doesn't seem to be working.

A basil plant would also be fine.

Thanks in advance.

I can't speak specifically for Daegu. But, fresh basil can usually be found at the department store (Lotte, Shinsegae, Hyundai) supermarkets...for a steep price. I've notice that in the neighborhood (-dong) markets there are sometimes basil plants for sale.

Not sure if they're still there, but I used to go to "AKAPURKO" regularly and they had everything.

Basil, Rosemary, Cumin Seeds, Cumin Powder, Tumeric, Curry, Ghee Butter, Lentils, Basmati Rice, Canned spinach, Mixed spices, Masala powder, and more!!!

Directions:
-Subway Line 2... to Gamsan Station. Exit #2.
-Once out of the exit, walk about 5-10 meters and take the first possible left.
-Take the next right and walk two blocks. The shop "AKAPURKO" is on the second block, on the left side.

They were only open after mid-day, and the owner spoke some english.

I was actually looking for fresh basil a while back so when i saw this post I called the number.

The lady I spoke to said to go to Herb Hills so I'm off to check it out in about an hour.

Thanks Crescent

Someone let me know if that place is still open -- I've been looking for fresh basil for ages and haven't been able to find anything but dried.

I've got basil seeds that I intend on planting next season...unfortunately my stubborn landlady doesn't let anybody in the building onto the roof. =\

OK a fruitless morning spent at herb hills.

The lady on the 760- number sent me there and told me to call her when i got off the bus. She didn't answer and I tired for about an hour, so i called Tourist info and the woman there found another number for the place in Dalseo-Gu (right where I live!)

So apparently the one by Gamsam Stn is still there and the number is 053-582-9111

I did find a basil plant downtown though opposite the Starbucks by Banwoldang Station (YMCA exit) so I'm just going to use those few leaves for now.
