I've owned at least 7 routers over the years.

In my opinion, just go out and buy a new router. They start to crap out after a year to three years, and do so by dropping connections more frequently over time. So you can get one that seems to work fine until you use it for a while.

I've had good luck with Belkin routers, and you can get them in English. You can get one for around 40,000 or so.

Another cheap favorite is the D-Link DIR-300, but they aren't in English anymore around here (unless you're lucky and can find one with English).

Routers by Buffalo are decent also. I agree with bassexpander. Just pick up a new one online or at Yongsan station. Better to buy a brand that supports English menus for when you set up your connection.

Check out DD WRT, which is a program you can load onto your router and change lots of its settings, like signal strength, port forwarding, give preference to a certain device, etc. The Linksys routers are the easiest to load the software on to, if you're interested in going that route.

That's what reflashing the software is for...

You could also try buying a refurb on amazon and mail it to a friend/family and then just have them mail it to you.

$30 is all I paid to get this:

Of course you need an adapter, but not a big deal to get a compatible one at an electronics store.

Good luck with that. I've yet to find one in Korea (an adapter, not a converter) and only get confused looks when I ask for one. Where is this electronics store you speak of?

That's about the same price as a new one in Korea, and you don't have to pay shipping or buy an adapter. Used ones can be found at the store in front of the "tunnel" going from Sinyoungsan to the Sunin building, but they'll cost 10,000 won minimum.
