|
|
Hey all,
So as some of you know, I'm planning on coming over to Korea next year after I graduate from university. The question I want to ask is, when do you think that I should start looking for a job?
I ask because I see that some people are already job hunting for 2010. I am hoping to get a job starting in July, and I'm planning on probably going through recruiters. When would you suggest I start my job search? I was thinking I'd probably start around the beginning of the summer, however, I would like some opinions on that.
Thanks in advance! |

I'm not that picky, I don't have to live in Seoul, but I'd rather not live in the middle of nowhere either. |

Get your documents asap, starting now if you can. A criminal record check is good for 6 months. Get that taken care of and the rest of the stuff will come quick. Then apply and notify employers you have all required documents in hand. The jobs will roll in. |

Thanks, I plan on renewing my passport when next year rolls around, and I'm definitely going to get my CRC ahead of time so I have everything ready to go. |

Well, looking now as far as researching won't hurt. For the actual applying with your chosen recruiters, I think it would depend on when you graduate and have the all important diploma in hand; which depending on your university might take a while. Getting your diploma, CBC and getting them apostilled takes the longest.
Figure out the process in your state for getting a CBC and estimated time. I recently went about doing so in my state and drove first from my local P.D. where I was directed to the sheriff's office, and directed back to a website where I could get a state level check mailed to me by the state police in the capital. Local and country police can't issue a state level check in my state. Also as mentioned, you should time it so that when you apply it is not over the six month shelf-life.
Are you able to get your copies of the diploma and or CBC apostilled quickly (i.e. can you walk in to your State Dept. office which may be in your state capital)? If you mail it, it will probably take a few weeks.
So factor in the wait times if they apply also. From what I understand, recruiters will be all over you if you have all documents ready for the visa process. |
