So I got this about a day and a half ago. So far, it works great. Totally worth the money. It works fine on the bus and even on the subway. I took it on line 3 and 7 mostly underground never had a problem with service. I haven't run the battery to empty yet, but it does take a long time to charge.
I had it fully charged this morning (Green light on the charger) and ran it for about 2 hours. Plugged it in and 2 hours later(give or take), still red.
Its about the size of a cellphone, not heavy, it does run a little warm, but even tucked in a pocket in my backpack it doesn't seem to be getting excessively hot.
It doesn't seem to have any kind of location awareness, so I can't use my ipod touch "home" feature on any of the map programs. They all claim that they are unable to determine the home location. So you can't use it to power some kind of gps or navigation software, but you can still access a map application on a touch and find directions/buses/etc |

| What did you pay for it? 27,000won/month for 50GB on a 1yr contract (like the dude said in that other thread?) On the SHOW website, they are saying the 'egg' alone cost 231,000won. So I wonder if/what a monthly plan costs? |

| Yup, I got the 27,000 plan. The other choice was 19,800 but then I had to pay an extra 10,000 a month for the egg. |

How does the Egg do indoors? I tried WiBro last year and it sucked indoors, unless I was sitting 1 foot away from a window. I was in the heart of Gangnam too.
Also, it seemed with the WiBro, the higher up I went, the worse the signal. In an officetel, the signal was good in floors 1-4, but as you kept going higher, the signam would degrade until it was almost unusable on the 10th floor. |

I guess I'm lucky. I find so many open wifi AP's that I'd have no need for the egg.
As for the subway, I just pre-download my e-mail, and the news stories on the AP news / MBC apps and read them while riding. |

So far okay where i've tried it. It conked out in a bathroom.
Wimax isn't meant to penetrate deep indoors though. For me, I want to use it for accessing the bus routes on the daum map apps. I can plan ahead but if my plans change, I'm still not at the point where I can get directions from a bus driver (and it seems many koreans have trouble with that anyway)
A couple of the places I frequent have wifi, one or two have nespot, but the majority have nothing or something so weak that its unusable. When I'm on the street its hit or miss if I can find a coffee shop or other store with open wireless (and if its usable) |

Sounds great. A couple of questions though...
When you are on the subway, do you think the connection is good enough to have a telephone conversation on skype through a touch/psp?
Also, were you able to pick it at a store after signing the paperwork or was it delivered?

It was delivered, and I tried the skype test call this morning and it seemed to work fine. My voice played back seemed okay, I could hear the voice clearly. I haven't had a chance to have a long conversation with it yet.
I also forgot to turn it off earlier, and I had it on for about 6 hours.
unused for about 1/2 that time. Power light was amber, I'm not sure if it goes to red before shutting off. |

There is a little square that comes with the egg. It has the password on it. The password is actually just a combination of the default egg SSID. Once you find it, just connect up and log into it like you would a regular router. You can change the password then. After that, nothing special. It should work fine. The only thing to keep in mind is that it does take awhile to charge. So Anytime you use it, plug it in right away when you have time just in case you need to go out with it again. I'm not sure where my little square is. You don't need it after you change the password. I think i kept..just not sure where. |

I tried SHOWXXXXX (5 digits of the SSID) but it didn't work. My little white card showed something like that and I figured that was the password. Since it didn't work then I decided to seek your counsel. |

If that doesn't work, try hitting the reset button on the off chance that the settings are messed up. Just hold it down for 30 seconds or something.
Are all the lights green on the unit? |

orange means your Wimax signal is less than awesome, but it should still work. Are the other 2 lights green? The egg will still work unless that one turns red that means you're not getting any wimax at all.
If you move it near a window it should turn green.
Did you try resetting to see if that helps connect to it? |

its a distinct possibility. do you have another device you can try connecting to it? |
