Just wondering, are there any apartments in Korea that have floors that aren't the same brand of wood colored wallpaper? After several years here, I've noticed that my floors have always been the same. Is there only one company that makes the floor wallpaper? Are there any homes with actual hardwood floors? Do any homes ever rock carpet? |

There are some better versions of fake-wood flooring available.
Hardwood flooring also exists. You should ask JongroGuru about that though.
Do you own your apartment? If you're just a temporary guest living in the place it might be a waste of money to invest in hardwood flooring..
Having lived in Korea for a few years I can't imagine why any one would want wall-to-wall carpeting anymore. I grew up with it, but now it strikes me as a disgusting bacteria-filled wasteland. |

My current apartment has laminate wood flooring. It's actually pretty nice. My gf's apartment has marble flooring. |

the linoleum faux wood comes in different colors, but the "pine" is by far the most common. My understanding is that the other flooring options don't work so well with ondol heating, but I could be wrong on that. |

I didn't notice any difference between the laminate wood and the linoleum flooring that was in my old apt. as far as the ondol. I rarely use it anyway, so who knows. |

They have cheaper grades of that linoleum fake wood flooring. The cheapest grade won't allow you to match up the edge to hide where a new piece ends and another starts. If your pieces are just flopped over each other at the ends, then you have the cheapest stuff. In my opinion, it's worth it to get the stuff that's a smidge more expensive just so you don't have to overlap the edges. It's not a huge price difference, anyway, I think. |
