I'm a member of Waffles.fm, What.CD, BitSpyder, SceneAccess, GFTracker, Blu-Torrents, BitmeTV, TV-Torrents.com, TheBox.bz, and TV-Vault and I can't even seed anything cause I'm in Korea?!?!?!

SO RAME.

Anyway to get ratios up here?

One thing that I don't get is how I can seed at a very decent rate on public trackers (bt.junkie.org, and eztv.it for example) but on PRIVATE trackers I can't seed worth crap! All except for demonoid where my upload speed is quite decent and where I have a 9.2 ratio compared to my other sites like torrentleech.org and torrentbytes.net where my ratio continues to slip. I understand how people have said that ISP's are limiting the upload speed but how can it be great for public trackers but not great for private ones? I'd really like an explanation.

The thing I don't understand about private trackers is, what is on private trackers that isn't available on mininova? The only files I have trouble finding on mininova are ebooks. I would love to join a private ebook tracker.

The major difference between public and private trackers is the quality, especially with music. What.cd for instance are really picky about what you upload and can get banned if you up a transcode. Private trackers are usually good for more niche things too.

I can't keep a good ratio for the life of me on private trackers, however the good trackers don't require you to have a 1:1 ratio unless you are downloading a lot.

For example?

There is practically nothing I haven't been able to find on mininova. Literally all mainstream media is available. Even relatively obscure Korean films are readily available. The only advantage I can think of is faster downloads. But who cares? You have to wait 2 hours instead of 45mins? Makes no real difference.

I have no problems seeding with both Waffles and The Box, and have very healthy ratios on both. Actually much better than other countries I've lived, I'm almost constantly uploading to both.

I guess it's often based on what you're seeding. If no one is downloading that stuff then geography isn't really a factor. Keep your eye on the Top 10s/50s on Waffles to boost your ratio.

I know what you're saying but I can go download a popular tv show (Smallville, Supernatural, Grey's Anataomy, etc.) from eztv.it (public) and will be seeding and uploading at a few hundred kilobits second and my ratio will be great, however the SAME tv show from my private trackers gets me frack all for uploading. Case in point I downloaded season premiere of Grey's Anatomy on Friday, the day it came out. From eztv I uploaded 10 GB'S!!! but on a private tracker? 267 MB'S!!!

That's what really frustrates me.....

This illustrates what is both good and bad about private trackers, lots of poeple sharing so insanely good download, but also lots of people sharing so bad uploads

With some private trackers you have to jump on the new and popular releases to work your ratio up. That's all you can do really. That and set the bandwidth allowance to 'high' for the torrents from the site you want to improve on. But I'm not sure that does much.

The Demonoid ratio seems to be meaningless. I've probably uploaded ten times more TB's there than I've downloaded, yet my ratio has been stuck firm at 3.2 for a couple of years now. Never moves up or down. 3.2......

Everything is too well seeded on the privates to get any upload action.

I use the 'notifications' feature on what.cd to make sure I jump on anything that's going to be big early. That being said, I will never have to worry about my ratio again after the beatles box set freeleach Cool

It's pretty easy to figure out actually:

You are in Korea. Most of the seeders/leechers on those private sites are in Europe or America.

On the private sites lots of people use seed boxes. A seed box is a dedicated server, usually with a 100mb line. Those seed boxes are located in Europe for the most part.

Who do you think is going to be able to see more?

One one of my private trackers, the top uploader is a guy with a seedbox who abuses it big time. He has over 5MB/s going up all the time.

The 2nd uploader is a guy from Japan with 2x100mb lines and like 30+TB of stuff on his network, so he has like 1500-2000 seeds going at once. That is the only way he can keep up to the guy who is #1.

I have a seedbox located in Europe. I joined TYT before this season started. My buddy in Korea has been a member for over a year. I already have uploaded 3x more than he has in my short time as a member. He has a hard time getting 1.0 on a torrent there. I am usually 20-60 ratio on each torrent I grab. Why? As I said, most leechers are in Europe.
