My friends and I are staying in Osaka on Sunday night. Any suggestions on places to stay that are cheap? We would like to be around the 'going out' area, which I hear is by Amerika Mura or Dotombri area (Nambu station). Please send me any recommendations. Thanks!

Look on www.hostelworld.com - there is a place called Hotel Chuo Annex (or something like that) that is very cheap and not bad at all for the price. It's in a bit of a seedy neighborhood, but it's right next to a subway anyway, and not far from the nightlife.

Stayed at a cheap place (around Korean 30,000 eqvt a night) in Doebutsuoime. Nice room and free coffee, internet and sauna.

It's on the red line and easy to get to party areas. Lots of cheap hostels there as migrant day workers work round that area a lot... Actually a nice area too with lots of traditional tea houses and restaurants....

If you can get by with some japanese then there are STACKS of business hotels (really cheap hostels for people travbelling overnight) all around a place called dobutsuen mae (which is basically the zoo). The area is like the homeless capital of osaka, but the rooms are fine and cost about 4000 yen max per night (there was one that even cost 1000, but had a curfew). Failing that and if youre male, just head to america mura (one of the main shopping areas near shinsaibashi, and nip into a nice capsule hotel. They run about 3000yen per night. And failing that, theres always net cafes. They usually offer night time 8 hour package deals for about 1500 or so yens.
Oh, found the hostel in dobutsuenmae, its called raizan kita and is about the foiurth hotel on the list here:

The bath sucks, but who minds. You have spa world outside your door Smile just dfont go in the swimming pool if you have a tattoo, got hoofed out of there once Smile Oh, and its 2000 yen per night according to their blurb.

This place is AWESOME http://www.asahiplaza.co.jp/capcel/english.html it is in americamaru which is abt 5min walk from dotombori. It is a block back from the apple store and korean embassy so very easy to find. If you have a group you can get a group room or you can get the capsule which is good. They have lockers, washing machines, dryers, sauna, hot and cold pools etc etc. There is plenty of partying nearby as well as food and drink. And of course it is cheap and both men and women can stay there oh and free internet.
