What's your take on refurbished products?
Is it hit or miss, or should I avoid certain refurbished products or refurbishers? |

Depends on the product. If you RMA a hard drive, 9 times out of 10 you will received a Factory Reconditioned hard drive as a replacement. There's no getting around it.
I would only buy a refurbished is the warranty on the refurbished product was the same as a new product.
Most times, a refurbished item will have a MUCH shorter warranty. If its the same as a new product, then why would the manufacturer shorten the warranty so much?
If the warranty is the same, then I'd buy a refurbished. |

I bought my current digital camera three years ago as 'refurbished'. I think it was an ex-demo. Same warranty as a brand new one. I wouldn't mind it breaking so I'd have an excuse to get a more up to date one. It's still working perfectly though. |

Many products on Ebay are refurbished and priced to match. My first purchase was digital camera and it done me many years. |

Bought a HP dv6000 on gmarket 2 years ago... still running smooth. Sometimes you'll find minor scratches on the products but if the warranty is in order, the price is right... why not!!! |

Seconded. Bought a refurbished Canon DSLR EOS 350D from a refurbished dealer on eBay at the end of 2005 and I still use it today. Never had any problems with it at all. |
