Win 7 will be out on Oct 22nd.

Anyone know where I can buy an English OEM (not full boxed) version of Win 7 on release day in Korea?

It has to be legit, no pirated stuff.

Newegg in the US is taking pre-orders for the OEM version of Win 7 (it's about half the price of the boxed version), but they don't ship to Korea.

Can it be bought as a download? Download, burn and use?

I'm not sure.....look at the Windows 7 website.

You can buy a download version of the full "retail" version.

But I don't think you can buy an OEM version as a download. Never seen that before.

OEM is about half the price, so it's worth it.

If you still have a .edu e-mail address, you can get a legit copy for $30.

I think it comes out Oct 22nd

Can't seem to find any information about if that is a FULL version that I can install on a clean computer with no current Windows, or just an upgrade. Seems like a pretty good question for them to totally avoid answering. Sad

I installed the release candidate of Windows 7 on an older notebook as a clean install & it worked great. I'm pretty sure this is a full version & not just an upgrade.

If you buy this version of Windows 7, will you always be able to download it in the future, or had you better purchase a DVD back-up in case you want to rebuild your system?

I took advantage of this deal, and from what I understand:

1) it is a full version download, not just an upgrade
2) you're downloading a burnable iso - just burn it yourself and have it forever

I'll let you know more details when I can actually download it (Oct. 22) - I mostly just did this for the product key anyhow

I'm likely going to get this...

If it comes with a burnable ISO, that's great. Am debating whether I want to update my XP machine, which is an HP Pavilion notebook with 1.83 Core Duo with 2gb ram and onboard graphics or not. Seems this will run fine on my machine. I could stretch another year or two of use out of it if it doesn't die on me. Pretty cheap for a $30 upgrade. Can't decide if I'd rather use it on a whole new machine or not.

You know, man, I was running an XP box for years, tried vista for about 3 days, hated it, then went back to XP. When win7 came out, I gave it a try, and things are like 1000x smoother than they were with XP. Faster firefox, instant driver search and installation, everything just WORKED. My only real gripes about win7 are that the quick launch toolbar is not a default option, you kinda have to rig it up, and then sometimes it disappears after a reboot; and there are no toolbar buttons in explorer windows (like delete, copy, paste, etc.) Back your stuff up, download the evaluation version (or a torrent) and give it a try. You can always put XP back on.

I'll be ordering it from NewEgg and having it shipped to my parents who will then forward it to me.

I could probably buy an extra copy for you if you want to work out the details.

I contacted support, and they replied that it is a FULL version, and can be installed on its own, or as an upgrade. But you have to back up your stuff.

May I ask what you want to do with the product key? I mean, they are specific, at least to versions, if not actual DVDs and images.
