is Hae Bang Chon more dangerous than other districts?

Is hbc more dangerous or is it just that there are more foreigners living here therefore able to talk about bad experiences in English or broken English (like myself).
I have been living in that district for 12 years and experienced one burglary (a guy came at night in our apt while we were sleeping and stole my purse .He did not murder us though and did not kidnap my little child.)

Yes. Yongsan is one of the top 5 'dangerous' areas of Korea. There was an article last year that I can't find now.

Also on the list that I remember was Guro-Gu (Seoul), Namhae and Gwangyang.

She was sleeping, how should she know? And why does it matter?

I think you're answering your own question, with the authority that comes from 12 years' residence there. From the rare news about HBC I would think that fires are the main threat to life there.
