I found this online:
http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2008/12/116_35819.html

Does anyone know if this bill went through and we now are given the Monday off when a holiday falls on or a Sunday? Or was this wonderful bill shot down? I can't seem to find the answer or an update...

My head teacher told me Wednesday that they (people in charge) were trying to get Monday off for an extended holiday since people were going on trips, etc. She said that the law requires approval from the president, but he had not given it. I haven't heard anything different, so time for work~!

Of course... Rolling Eyes

I guess it's a move in the right direction, though. Thanks for the link.

That's a pretty old article now...I seem to remember hearing that the changes would take effect in 2010 though but I can't link or prove it.

More recently my girlfriend was telling me about a news report whereby a new French ranking of countries by quality of life had South Korea way down the listing because of working hours and little/no holiday time off. Apparently this has irked the SK govt. who are somewhat obsessed with coming high up on such lists and have previously listed highly because of previous narrow economic focus.

The interesting result was LMB pledging to overhaul the SK lack of holiday/vacation situation..
But... that would take some overhauling...I for one am sceptical..

The only related info I could find on it was this http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=1992691

Thanks for the update. I hope this means he has not given it YET, not that it was turned down (there are a lot of Sunday holidays next year).
