I do not believe American soldiers would kill their fellow countrymen. I agree that if things get really bad, the civil unrest will be damn ugly all around. I already wrote this exact sentiment on this board about a month ago. I must have been one of asmith's threads.
I really hope it does not come to the point of unrest!!! |

Well, I've bought a few cases of MREs, some guns/ammo (in case I need more stuff  ), fifty gallons of water, a portable generator, and a portable butane stove. In the coming apocalyse, if I'm going to have to eat dog food, at least it is going to be warm! |

When the former fed chairman declares we'll have double digit unemployment for the next several years, that's scary stuff.
Of course, he's the one who got us into this mess.
Do you think the American people are going to put up with several years of REAL unemployment hovering around 20 percent?
This isn't the Great Depression Era. We are no longer as polite as we used to be.
Many of us are drunk and hopped up on drugs. We also own lots and lots of guns.
Things are going to get ugly. |

Canada got by with a 16% unemployment rate for quite a few years. My particular area of the country had nearly 30% unempleyment at one point. Look at us now, full of call centers and walmarts. the US. will be fine.
Oh, and americans will shoot just who they are told to shoot. Propaganda is like that. |

Point is it can't be done. It's a recession; there is no revenue to make. The reason the (haha) young men are protesting is they are used to the system working for them. They are not part of the standard disenfranchised groups everybody seems to hear as so much white noise these days (you know, minorities, elderly, disabled, non-heterosexual-males, etc- those guys!).
Don’t worry, no one wants the USA to collapse. The economies of all the first world nations have way too much at stake for the US economy to collapse. You might find out what it’s like to be working poor and hungry in your old age, but your state will be fine- just ask the upper-middle classes how well fed everyone is! |

I'm not so sure about this. It seems to me that most Americans are still in the dark about everything and they tell people to put their tin foil hats on if they speak out. Many are already too brainwashed to see straight. Sad, but true. I think they will line up like the good little sheep and do whatever big brother tells them to do. Already, many people in Massachusetts said they would be OK with wearing a metal tracking bracelet. Americans are scaring me more and more.  |
